Ren'Py - Brothel King [v0.3] [Goldo]

OK so I've played this through quite a few times, enjoying trying different difficulty settings and different girls and so on.

A few comments / suggestions. Keep in mind I know nothing about coding.

1. Is it possible to give certain girls specific traits based on the girl? For instance, I found one time that when I used Ariel the Mermaid, she had a thing for "wet" and Belle loved books and so on. Made perfect sense, but I am under the impression this was just random. After all, I also had Hermione saying she hated books ...

2. I've enjoyed some of the conversations I had with free girls before they joined the Brothel but once they joined, the personalities did not continue -- the best example I can think of was when I had one girl (Snow White) who was clearly very submissive and horny, but once she was in the brothel, showed none of those signs...

These may require specific girls that come with the initial game, I suppose, instead of the girl packs...

3. I wish there was a way to progress to the next chapter if my girls are ready even if I haven't finished the plot for that chapter. In other words, I'd love this to be, in essence, two games: a "run the brothel" strategy game and a "enjoy the plotline" game, both of which would progress at their own rate instead of being reliant on each other.

4. I still think adding an option for girls at the brothel to do "shows" with beasts (like at the farm) is a good idea, especially since if you never use the farm, you'll never see the artwork for that option.

5. I think some of the customers should be women... I mean, it's kind of implied by having a bisexual trait (and there was at least one random encounter with a woman wanting to have sex on stage with one of the girls) but it seems that when you have the list of actions at the end of the day, at least a few should be women requesting these actions.

6. I don't know much about anime, so I tend to download the western cartoon characters. I know those are separate from the game, but I thought I'd mention that. I did do a few of my own additions of some characters and uploaded them a while ago, but I hope others will add more (or take mine and add to them and label them better).

In any event, this is an enjoyable game that is fun with repeated run-throughs, which places it with the best games here.

Genius allowing us to make our own "Girl Packs" for unlimited replayability! The story damn good, better than most AAA games in last 10 yrs. Humor top notch! Very boring game, the UI is clunky and because of all the different girl packs the game feels like an amalgam of different art styles and lacks continuity. The story wasn't anything impressive either.

Overall felt like a (severely) downgraded version of Monster Girl Club Bifrost. Would not recommend.

(TL;DR: good for a v0.2 game, but is still clearly a v0.2 game. Definitely worth a try if you like these brothel sim / Slave Maker games.)

The plot is absolutely unnecessary, it's just a kinda dumb hodgepodge of stuff I don't particularly care about, like throwing "your mom" jokes at some guy or talking about debts to an "ugly bastard"-looking dude.

The game itself is fine, it's another one of those "Slave Maker" games (Slave Trainer? IDK, I used to play a lot of Slave Maker in particular), but the base game itself doesn't have any girls built-in, (EDIT: though there is an official girl pack you can download) so you have to go through the trouble of poking through the list of girl lists people have made, some bad, some good; I kinda wish the game had some ultra-basic, generic girls built-in instead of having to rely on modpacks made of popular characters from videogames and anime, where the art varies wildly in quality.
Also having girls with some of their perks pre-unlocked is a bit annoying since they tend to get perks unlocked that they don't need that bad, but that's more of a nitpick.

Definitely 100% needs more dev time, though, everything feels a bit half-baked so far, and there's not a lot of girl mods that have anything particularly mindblowing yet.

Honestly I'd give it closer to 3.5 stars for now, but I'm rounding up because I like the general idea of where it's going

Spiritual successor to SlaveMaker. Built on top of RenPy, but unlike any other RenPy game you've ever played.

+ Gameplay is very addictive and time consuming
+ High replay value with over 1400 girls to seduce, enslave and train
+ Active community is constantly adding new girls to play with
+ Broad appeal, difficulty freely adjustable from casual sandbox sim to unforgiving grindfest (it leans towards the former on default difficulty)

- Installation process can be a bit cumbersome compared to other games, since it involves downloading girl packs
- Development is slow (but steady)
- Story is incomplete

This game has been in development for nearly 5 years, but the pace of development might not be what you're used to. This is especially unfortunate for the story. While it is a compelling part of the game, story updates are so few and far between that it would take at least another 5 years of development to complete.

That being said, the gameplay loop is really enjoyable and the constant addition of new girlpacks by the community add an immense amount of replay value.

Being able to play with your favorite characters is the real killer feature of these types of games, and Brothel King's stellar collection of girlpacks is second to none and still growing steadily.

I eagerly look forward to another 5 years of development!

Addicting Brothel Managament games,though its still story lacking,plenty of content available that would made u occupied in managing the brothel. Keep the development in good way and add more girl pack for the developer.

i think this is a great game. i can't wait to bring in more new things. for example, I would be happy if you weren’t just a human guest.

But the best thing would have been for the game to bechange the engine because it was freezing for me and it was slow.

More objectively - the story is very rich with a couple of VERY different routes. I think the idea is that you can be good, bad, mad, or something in between. Also the fact that the game actually doesn't force you into whoring out your girls is a big plus for me. Gameplay element is surprisingly good, wasn't expecting that from Ren'Py.

One of the best games with actual FUN gameplay on this site. The images and tags badly need to be updated because they dont represent the game at all (add the animated tag, pictures that show some skill trees and training options)

- Good gameplay with resource management, random events and mechanics (like building) opening up later in the playthrough to keep things fresh
- RPG elements where each girl can level up different skills, gain unique perks and invest into skill trees
- items and skillpoints for the main character, 3 classes that feel entirely different
- the story is told in a visual-novel format but its not overwhelming. For me, who doesnt like visual novels, theres plenty of other things to keep my interest
- lewd content is entirely customizable by the player. you can download (or make) girlpacks with hundreds of images/animations that pop up ingame whenever its appropriate. whether you like anime, or western art, furry, or even pornstar packs, you can find them.

Things the game doesnt have, but would be nice to see:
- preg and futa content
- more gameplay mods
- revamped combat. right now its just dice rolls that become obsolete in lategame once you have good gear

This game has the potential to be the best game of this site. The art, ideas, the gameplay and discovering what are the sexual preferences of each girl (I prefer those who like anal sex the most) makes it the more amazing,

Love the game, its a whole lot better with custom girl packs. Enjoying the current content though when I first started playing if you gave a girl enough attention and maxed out her "Mood/Love" and Reduced her Fear to minimum she became infatuated with you indefinitely.. I liked that and do miss it because once you have more than a dozen girls it becomes tedious to keep their fear from rising above the medium. Currently working on a girl pack of myself so if you enjoy this game check it out

One of the best trainer and management games out there. The numbers go up, your waifu sex slaves have a LOT of sex, and the numbers go up some more. Boy I sure like making numbers go up.

It's important to note the game is designed to use folders full of girl pics for each girl, which you'll have to download (or create) separately. It means you can have as much picture variety as Ren'Py will allow in its memory (which is a lot, but not infinite).

There's a story. It's fine. It gets out of the way once you demonstrate that you're very good at making the numbers go up. It also makes use of Evenicle CGs, and I can't not see those characters and wonder what they're doing here.

But boy howdy is this a good game for making numbers go up. My favorite is that, instead of an EXP bar, the main character has 'prestige' and it goes up every time he fucks. It's great and is extremely in line with what you want to do in the game.

This is probably the best 2d brothel management game for years now. It is important to note that this game has a default starting art pack to download, but needs more art packs that users have so kindly put together as separate downloads to get the full experience of the game. The story is only complete up until around chapter 2, although there are a few events in the later chapters. There is no real overall goal except building money and reputation to get to the best brothel, so some may feel it is too grindy, but I feel that is the nature of a brothel game. I would definately recommend to give it a shot!

I broke up with my partner shortly before this whole pandemic ... this left me with way too much time by myself to explore my kinks. Fortunately, I discovered this forum and many games. I’ve been lurking for a while, but this is the first review I actually write, so let’s get to it.

This here is a very good and promising game. It is highly recommended. I’d rank Brothel King in my personal top 2 of the most enjoyable games I’ve found through this site (the other one is Harem Hotel, but that game has got plenty of attention already. This one is a lesser-known gem.)

If you’ve ever played a brothel game, the setting will probably sound familiar to you. You are a stranger (three classes: a warrior, a wizard or a rogue trader) entering the vaguely medieval and oriental city-state of Zan populated by anime characters (although I believe some girl packs will give you real pornstars). Zan is a place of political intrigue, corruption, unknown pleasures and loose morals. Sex slavery, human trafficking and all kinds of depravity are pretty much just accepted parts of life in Zan.

You start a brothel. You buy slaves or recruit free girls of the street (making them sign a slave contract). You can make them work as masseuses, geishas, barmaids or dancers, and - of course - whores. You train your girls. You manage your finances. You’re the ambitious sort. You aim to be a king: a brothel king.

The gameplay is a combination of training and management, but there is also a virtual novel -type of story you can unlock as you progress from the slums to more prestigious parts of the city.

One of the main criticisms people give to brothel management games is the amount of grind. I think this is a tad unfair… please bear in mind that this game is a sim brothel clone and a training game.

What happens in a brothel is that working girls work and customers cum’n go. This repeats day after day after day… that’s the daily grind of a brothel. How are you supposed to avoid repetition?

Same with training. If you’ve ever trained for something – let’s say – running a marathon, you probably had to practice running? Probably several times a week? Maybe you could run 5K or 10K without practice but you would not be able to make the whole 42K. Sex slaves are no different. It takes time and practice to turn a wide-eyed anime girl next door into an anal sex goddess!

If you don’t like any grinding at all, maybe look for a completely different genre?

And it’s not like the grind is particularly bad in this one. On the contrary, I think the game strikes a very nice balance between its various elements. It has a very satisfying game play loop, which is both challenging and – most importantly – fun. This is a Ren’py game and there is also a visual novel type of narrative you can follow laid out in 6-7 chapters (only 2 of which are, so far, available in 0.20 version…). The story is also interesting enough full of scheming in the game’s corrupt fantasy world. The story also comes with genuine choices with different outcomes for the chapter – it’s not just on rails.

In terms of vibe, I think the closest equivalent is Slave Maker, which I believe the creator cites as inspiration. Another point of comparison would be Jack o’ Nine Tails, but the BK universe is not as bleak and harsh as the JONT one. Even though there is corruption and people sometimes do get killed, the business of turning anime girls into sex slaves is presented as a more lighthearted and positive enterprise – much like in the said Slave Maker.

Also, in terms of training difficulty, the vanilla BK is closer to Slave Maker than JONT. Although there is a mod called bonanza, which turns it into a more difficult slavery simulator.

Yet another point of comparison (and a game I’ve also enjoyed immensely, *shoutout*) is Wicked Rouge – which also does a good job in combining a VN story with a management side. However, in terms of actual game play, I think Wicked Rouge is less flexible and in its current build way too easy. The management side in BK can be challenging, especially when you move to the posher areas of town and the costs of running a brothel can quickly go through the roof.

Where BK also shines (much like Slave Maker once again) is the availability of various girls. There is a small but active community, which keeps new girl packs coming.

In short, Brothel King is an overlooked gem on this site. Do give it a try!

I downloaded this whit 0 expectation. How wrong i was.
First of all, i dont know why this game has only 15 votes.

Its a train game, but with a plot. An intresting (for me) plot. That is a big difference with other games of the same type.

Also, its a game than its easy to understand. I like jack o nine' tails but i coud never do anything, i dont understand shit of how that game works.
Bothel king is far more understandable, and the presentation is superb. Super clean, and beautifull.

Try it, what do you have to loose? if you are in this website, im preety sure you played terrible games. This will be a good change for once.

After playing it so much and making packs for this Game, i think i should review it already. (Based partially on the v0.2 that's still on beta testing)

Gameplay wise is a Trainer Game (which is my favorite type of games), buy your girls, train them the way you want, explore your surroundings, raise your reputation to move your brothel to better districts, etc.
However, unlike most old Trainer Games, there is actually a bigger plot behind, and your choices might matter on your future... and even if the story is still on a very early phase, the lore sure is quite interesting.
There are also some cheats to skip most of the story, in case you want to play as a simple trainer game.
Oh, and the events you can find are quite varied, and more might come in the future. (like the Beach events for v0.2)

Graphic wise is... okay, i guess... most of the characters and background assets are taken from other games (mainly the Rance series) but still look good in-game.
This also make it quite easy to modify those assets as you like, by simply replacing some images by others you wish. (tho, i might not always work)
However, the interface is mostly original, and it looks good on it's own.

Soundtrack is just good, not much to say here.
Some give me energy to keep playing and some are a bit too chill for my taste.

Plot and Characters are quite intriguing, despite being on the early part of the Story, and i like the moral choices you can make on Chapter 1.

The Slave Girls variety is also inmense, mainly thanks to the Mod Community, which i apreciate the most of this game, and it is very easy for new players to mod their own Girl Packs on the Game.
And the girls are not as plain as other Slave Trainer games, as most have their own (randomly generated) likes, dislikes, talents traits and origins, which make them feel a bit more personal.

Overall, is an Excellent Trainer Game, despite not being Complete yet.
I personally play it for the Girl training and grinding mostly, but there is also quite a bunch of thing to do outside of the core gameplay, like the plot, events, and even a minigame coming on v0.2.
Even if i wouldn't say it's a 5/5 yet, the new planned features and the ambition of this project convice me of give it the 5/5 score anyway.

PD: This is a very personal wish, but could you consider adding some "Contest" events like in Slave Maker? Just saying...

Spent many 10's of hours playing this game, best slave trainer game since Jack O Nine Tails. Gameplay loop is strategic and addictive.

For a first playthrough, 0.15b is perfectly playable without any bugs that I saw. If you're done with that and still yearning for more content, download Bonanza Mod, it has more bugs but also quite playable too (don't recommend it for 1st playthrough)

Fantastic in depth strategy game! Really love the ability to add fan made girl packs, inspired me to do one of my own! I appreciate the fact that the game gets more involved as you go along, and that you are given clear and precise goals to reach the next levels, really good stuff!

The best management game i came across yet. It really has a lot of potential and with the right moves it would be even better than it is now. All in all i enjoy this game finding myself playing it for hours sometimes and i dont regret any minute of it.

I really REALLY love what Goldo has done with this game. I've often made my own girl packs and trying to make a honey select version of the characters and backgrounds just for the fun of it. So much potential and it feels more like an engine for trainer games than a game by itself. It is really well done.

You can add more girls and with another program add your own images and tags to create your own custom girl packs (or do it manually if you must) With a little scripting knowlege you can even add in personal events for that character.

The games developement is really well organized under the hood and makes swtiching out the current images with your own very simple. Few games really can say that they have customizable content of this caliber.
