Introduction: Before you say anything let me just say yes, I know, there's like a million of these things already out there but if you could please hold off for just a moment, I'd like to pitch my idea for a fresh take on the adult gaming monolith that is Big Brother (BB). I'm making the assumption you know what BB is and that many remakes exist already. If you don't, have a search on this forum and have fun. Hopefully you'll come back to this thread.

I've attached my BB fan-art up to this point, noting that these will not necessarily appear in the game.

Now onto my project;

The Premise
The BB story refreshed and recreated in Visual Novel format, through the perspective of Max, encompassing the lives of the characters before, during, and after the Villa.

How will this be different to all the remakes already out there?
Deep underneath the surface of the Big Brother story, I genuinely believe there's a fun tale to be told, but it was always hampered by poor translations and the ungodly grind of sandbox mechanics.

With this project I want to achieve;

1. A cohesive and well paced, interactive, incest-story
2. No grind
3. Compelling characters
4. Lots of porn
5. A story written by a native English speaker

What is this thread for?

1. Holding me accountable. I've tried making several VNs at this point and I've discovered I lack discipline for this kind of thing... Hoping that a public record will keep me in check.

Monetization?
January 23: I'll look at Monetization around the 2nd or 3rd major release. (I am not counting the demo as a major release)
Probably a subscribestar of something at some point. But not until a stable version is out with a respectable chunk of content.

If you could remake the BB story from scratch, what things would you want to see?

Eric is an essential character in the game. Otherwise it's just a fuckfest with no actual reason to continue beyond you getting the ultimate prize - Ann. I think this was the reason the original was killed off - sure Patreon decided to crack down on incest, but all the other games got around that with the whole 'landlady' fix.

On the other hand having Eric in, presents a whole different challenge - you need to add content for each path in every update so you keep the hardcore fans that refuse to play all three. This means (roughly) x2.5 scenes that need to be done for each update and on top of that, you need to keep the story lines in sync, so they can cross paths and keep going forward.

People are rightfully tired of BB remakes, regardless of their quality. There have been about 7 of them and all have failed. There is nothing special about this game/story except that it was the first of this "genre".

Lots of people remember fondly when they started playing BB when it first came out, but no matter how good of a rendition/improvement you make, it won't match their nostalgia.

If you are to make a game from scratch, why don't you simply get inspiration from the good parts of BB and make a new setting? I honestly think that people will be more interested and excited about it and if the game is good you will have more success.

While I agree about all of this, and am an avid Eric fan, I would encourage dev to create their own optimal path first before trying to please fans with alternative route options. Waiting to do the parts you actually want to can suck the life out of creating. You can always add more in later, and nobody will care if you don't finish, because nobody except Smirniy has ever finished.

So mate, if you really intend to keep your "No grind" promise, I support you fully.
And I don't mean to completely eliminate grind, but to give it some reasonable limits. So that it doesn't turn out, as in previous games and remakes, that if on the third day of the week five minutes after midnight I don't go to the living room and hide a spider in a character's shoe and the next morning I don't peek at her in the shower and wash the dishes for her or I don't I put suntan oil on it, it won't progress in the game and I have to start from the beginning. And there's not even a hint of what I missed.

I want a really good buil-up toward the sex scenes like slowly corrupt the family but go at the end of all things, not like the remakes (altought it go against rapid sex but i'm searching on good, balanced story and sex/build up scenes)

To be clearer, you can corrupt Alice (my favorite) with the blog, or being her surgar daddy with the shopping, etc...

Do you know what's the only certain way this game won't be finished? By never having been started. So spare us your negativity and go find something you like on this forum that gets like 20 new game updates every single day. And if you still can't find any and wonder why that is... well, look inwards.

Clearly a lot of people that are commenting have mixed opinions. I think that you have a good idea, as a VN format would be refreshing. I would argue that the the main reason people consistently gravitate towards BB is because of the models used for the characters. Preserve the models as much as possible and people will probably play it.

Also, as much as people on either side don't want to accept it, NTR/sharing/group and vanilla/harem make up sizable chunks of the fan base respectively. Therefore, including paths for both sides (paths involving all three of the women) is essential if you want to keep the most people on board. Although I personally like all paths, I recommend that you avoid letting the NTR/sharing/group sex/etc. paths bleed into the vanilla path (aka make them completely avoidable). Part of the reason why vanilla players hated BB so much was because you constantly had to deal with Eric even when you were trying to completely avoiding any NTR.

Overall, I think this could potentially be a great thing. It would be refreshing, especially without the egregious "wait wait wait, sleep, wait wait wait, sleep" grind. Your renders look fantastic; and the format would greatly distinguish the game from any of the copy/paste remakes out there that some people are annoyed with. I agree that beneath the surface, there is a good story to be told and it would be nice to see a BB game actually succeed since the models are so good.

BB is really great. Reason why BB Remakes suck: they all redo the base game and only then sometime start adding new content, which slows down pretty fast and you end up with no new content. So you replayed the base story 100 times, but additional content ends up being rare, all while gameplay as such doesnt change between the games that much for one to need several versions of same game. Mods with additional content would have been a better solution, but they stopped being done pretty fast too. Story of BB isnt that interesting or special but its one of few games that doesnt go into crazy with ninjas, guns magic etc. where many other such games drift of after some time. But most important part are the characters - you can say what you want, but they are pretty much the best ones in whole genre. Nothing special sure, but their visuals and personality just fit together, what cannot be said about 99% other characters in porn games.

I never played the orignial because im not that old. Im just 29.
But I saw some remakes done but also never played them for the obvious reasons. I think with the newest one, (this not included) I saw 3 now. From my understanding there is always NTR in the game, no mater if following it or not like the only one I played "BBS2 [v0.1] by [SummmerP]", but isnt the sole focus of it.

I cant say what I personally would want to see in such a remake since I lack the lore and understanding of the characters.
But for a fresh breath of air, I would welcome that IF a game has NTR avoidable, then it should be avoidbale. Not like what SummmerP did where one of the Sisters giving head and drinking his jizz dosent count as NTR...

I agree, people are rightfully going to be cynical about BB remakes. I'm aiming to showcase how this version will stand on its own once I release a demo version.
