As a fellow romance enjoyer, thanks for the list - tried a couple of the recommendations, had a great time.

I do have a comment about Strive: Conquest though - it has a semi-unavoidable rape scene. At the end of Elven Capital plot after you interrupt the ritual, you get to choose whether or not you want to take the losing party for yourself or let them get executed/exiled. If you take them for yourself and add them to your mansion roster, the first thing you do is drag them to a dungeon for non-consensual sex and you have no choice in the matter. Granted, maybe it's just a rushed scene thing that will get fixed later on in development, but as it currently stands it is in there. The only way to avoid is it to refuse to take them which implies execution, and depending on your moral compass it might be a worse outcome.

It's a game about a depressed MC and a yandere who's wildly in love with him, and you can have a pretty wholesome if unconventional romance if you do embrace her. The game does have bad endings though which can result in character deaths, so I'm not sure if it's fully compatible with the themes of this list.

the thing is, i want to add eratoho but
i can't justify giving it less than 5 pages of the highest possible praise i can..
so im just stuck in an endless cycle of 'should i? shouldn't i?' because i want to but doing so will force me to write a small novel on why i think it's the most well made, complex, and indepth yet adorable game ever..

I love maverik as a game dev and I closely follow (and discuss) the game development. Heleviel's scene is the part I hate, as even though she's evil there IS a non-con scene with her. No one deserves rape no matter what, and I've been asking for an alternative for a while. Funny that I managed to get a headpat scene for daisy in the game before removing that, though.
But for that reason, I'm SUPER biased towards SfC and if i'm being honest it should probably be in mid tier..

EratohoTW is.. VERY complicated but that's why I LOVE it. There's SO MUCH content to figure out, and since you can only romance 1 girl per playthrough and it takes like 10+ hours of irl time to do so if you aren't like, speedrunning to dating them and actually appreciating all the fluff and dialogue changes + new options and such, with all like 60+ or so girls there's like, a year of content lmao (plus all of the stuff BESIDES the girls like combat and other skills)
Playing through it should allow you to figure most of the stuff out, and when the day ENDS you can visit the tutorial which can guide you on different things.
Finding out how to play the game fully is an experience in itself, and I love it!

Also, headpats, hugs, and kisses (general romantic skinship) is under.. sexual harrassment for some reason? Which I don't understand, because you.. can't even do anything to a girl if you arent dating them (without timestop, but still thats just like anime pervert stuff, not romance), so how is it harrassment? Probably a mistranslation..
Also, I suggest Textractor for the untranslated parts.

I can strongly recommend MIST, found it while looking through less savory tags, all of which are pretty much "false advertising"
Incest is a mod, Drugs is them getting a little high and partying, mind control is regular cartoon mind control not used for sexy time, loli is just straight up incorrect, no clue who had that idea.

It is actually very sweet and probably my favorite game with really no problematic parts.

Mr. Cofman once recommended it to me. Didn't finish it so I don't know if there is a choice later to avoid or not, but my guess is not due to the vibe. It is romantic and indeed what you are looking for.

after seeing your comment and now I'm vibing. Yes, there is romance in harem games, but is it true romance? No. It's a matter of taste, harem games are less romantic, but to say there isn't any is completely unrealistic. The world is not black and white, there is something in between and not everything has to be 100% of something, but there are degrees.

Yeah, it's why I tend to avoid harem. Though, I'm fine with it if it's done right (ie. the girls legitimately have a reason to actually be with the MC, there's actual love between them (mc <--> any LIs), and the fact that it's not normal isn't just brushed over).
I used to kind of view polyamory as a light version of cheating, but I've kind of softened on that view and I'm not that overly against it anymore. From what I've heard
