VN Ren'Py Caerlin: Rising [Ch 4.5] [Crowne]

Pretty solid so far, really enjoyable. I like all 3 girls so far we met, hopefully a way to have all, don't want to break any of their hearts.

I do have a couple qualms or issues.
- First, I think maybe show the MC and his face more. Even create a spirte for him when not using and just talking maybe. It would create some more dynamic shots at times. Like showing him and girls cuddling instead of just girl. Would just make scenes better if you don't try to hide his face the whole time(Not just sexual). You even show it when kissing, etc. So I think just going all the way would improve scenes overall, by showing more or allowing more angles at times.
- I think the sprites and art compared to the art of sexual scenes is a very stark difference. Leah just looks starkly different, along with the other girls. The characters just look so much better in the sexual scene art, so if we could get closer to that throughout, for non sexual scenes too, would be so much more beautiful and better imo.
- Goes with last one a bit, but some of the art looks weird and liked its zoomed in or something. You can kind of tell in some previews here, like vega, or Leah in hallway, fight, etc. with many others in all that type of art. Just looks weird, like aspect ratio. So could use improvement. And once again, if we can get more consistent art and designs like sexual scenes have.

I think those are the main qualms I have and suggestions. But I do like this, I am just hoping for some improvment in all those areas. Just feel like it would improve the game. But, good job, keep up the good work.

I kept him mostly off-screen so players can project themselves more freely, but I get the preference.
If more people feel the same, I can consider showing him more.

About the art differences:
The NSFW scenes use a more detailed workflow since they carry a lot more emotional weight.
The rest of the game has a lighter style to keep scenes readable and consistent, it’s an intentional balance.

About the aspect ratio:
Good catch. If you can point out the exact scenes where it stands out, that would help me fix it cleanly for the next update.
Feel free to mention the scenes here, that way I can check them quickly. PM also works if you prefer.
And yes, the F95 thumbnails did end up a bit stretched, that part’s on me. I’ll correct those.

That never works out, it just creates awkward angles and looks ridiculous in every game that does it, even worse when objects or masks are being used to obscure the face. You also miss out on facial expressions which can change scenes significantly.

For now the framing works well with the tone I’m aiming for, but I’ll keep an eye on how players respond as more people progress.

Haha yeah, Vega is an intense, impulsive character.
Totally get why the pacing feels fast for some players, this release covers a lot of emotional ground early on.

Not at all, that was amazing. If anything I wanted that to last longer but the initial passion and impulse seems to indicate a personality disorder. Dangerous, and I tend to warn people away from the idea they can fix manic pixie girls in real life, cause odds are you'll just get wrecked trying, but for pure fantasy I want Team MC back sooner rather than later even if you already have the penultimate secret girlfriend.
