RPGM Caliross, the Shapeshifter's Legacy [v0.9.23] [mdqp]

Game runs fine for me, but a friend runs into a weird issue. Not sure if anyone has seen this before. Did a quick search for freezes, but nothing popped liked this one.


When they go to the Queen of Hearts, talk to Sanya and stare at the medallion the game freezes. Computer screen goes blank and there is a restart. Memory used seems to go from 42kb to 132kb too.

This happens on different instances, this is just an example. Computer specs are good, they run much more demanding games.

I am attaching a save from just before it happens.

1) Does the problem happen for you, if you use his save?
2) Do you mean the computer itself shuts down and restarts?
3) Could you name a few other instances beyond this one example?
4) What kind of PC is it, laptop or desktop? Which version of Windows is it running?

1) I am not able to use this save right now as I don't have access to my PC.

2)Yes, the computer restarts, not the game.

3)They are quite random, no real connection to the events but will get some more examples.

4) It's a desktop, running Windows 11.


Also game was downloaded from itch. If that matters in some way.

I see. I tried the save, but as I expected nothing wrong happens on my PC (and I expect nothing wrong would happen on your end either). While it's possible that this is a windows 11 issue with RPG Maker VX Ace, that's also unlikely (I would have been flooded with bug reports by now, I am sure).

If your friend has more than one hard-drive (or even better, another PC), I'd recommend trying to copy/paste the game on a different one, to see if that solves the issue. It might be that the hard-drive is failing. There is virtually nothing in the game that should be able to crash a system. VX Ace is a very stable engine, and as much as I have used scripts to expand some functionalities, there is nothing that pushes the game in weird ways.

You probably don't have the RTP installed:

I assume there are guides around for how to do it in joiplay, although I have never done it myself.

Try downloading the latest public version of joiplay from their patreon along with the rpgm rtp. Also refer all your joiplay related issues to the... Joiplay thread.

You can try the solution I posted in this thread a while back: delete the RTP if you have it, then pick Default when you try starting the game to download the RTP again.

I did a thorough investigation on Zanti family in like Chapter 1, and now I can't chose them for the town expansion, although I planned to go on the cowgirl path with Zanti maids. Did I lock myself out completely of the cowgirl path? Are there any other ways to become a cowgirl now?

Im using joiplay to well, play this and I keep getting different errors for different things i do.

For example, when i use the bath in the mc's house, it'll go through the cutscene for the bath, but then right after you get control of the mc again, ill get hit with a file missing and such. How do i fix this?

Same with an apparent missing file after the girl who refers to the mc as 'Big Sis' puts her prototype necklace on the mc.

Would recommend you join the official JoiPlay Discord server where there are dudes - especially the mods - who might help you with technical problems with certain RPGM games
For Caliross in particular, the mods created a patch that can be found in #patches, but if you don't feel like it then rename the file to patches.json and put it next to the .exe

How do I become a noble

The Prodigal Son
Chapter 2 only, go to either guild (you MUST be a member of the guild to get the quest). Gives you +2 guild reputation with BOTH guilds, as long as you are a member.

After you take a few steps inside the guild, you’ll get a cutscene. Talking to the manager, you’ll learn that the son of Duke Kito has gone missing, and there is a bit of an uproar because of it. The Duke’s valet is usually at the barracks, and that’s where you should start.

This were the path nobility starts save the Dukes son and he will recommend you for nobility . That leads you to the next related quest were essentially is to win over all the other nobles in various ways

Question: is there a faster way to get to chapter 2 or do I have to follow every quest in chapter 1?

The only thing you need to do to advance Chapters is explore the next Shapeshifter Temple. There may be things you need to do to get to the Temple, though.

Advancing Chapters can cut you off from doing various storylines.
