VN - Ren'Py - Casual Desires [v0.19b] [ionDivvy]

This game is competently made and contains most of the correct ingredients for success but it fails hard in the writing department.

This game annoys me because I should love it but I finally figured out why I don't like it at this time (v0.19b) ...

The Writing is BLAND - DULL - UNINSPIRED and just plain BORING. I think the Dev figured it out as when I played it the first thing it foes is offer to skip to ACT 2. I try to be fair and started in ACT 1 and worked my way through it. THE VN has NO Tension, NO Drama, NO Excitement, what is the MC's motivation? Fucked if I know.

The Renders are good but desperately need some animations. Either add animations or the renders need to be upgraded to show some more emotions.

I keep waffling between 2-3 stars but I reserve 2 stars for Bad games this game may be even worse as it is just BORING. I'm going to be generous and give this title 3 stars as the ingredients are all here but the writing has no idea where to go with this story.

I know this is a beta but it did not feel like the player has much choice other than to fuck or not. The player cannot choose the destination, clothes, or really very much but when to bang. It feels more like a comic with no agency to the player.

The game has started with a good idea in mind: give you a female protagonist and let you make her grow into any kind of person you want.

But the implementation is just not good. Writing is bland. Characters are bland. Sex scenes are short and bland. Story is... mostly absent.

Overall, disappointing.

I'm willing to give this game credit for its sleek character models, but that's about where the good ends.

I've tried this game multiple times now over the past year or so, and if you're looking for a game where a girl just wants to expose herself and act slutty with no real motivation, by all means go ahead, but if you're looking for character development, corruption, or player choice, give this a hard pass.

This game isn't a good corruption novel purely because there's no motivation involved in any of the activities, they're very spontaneous and the MC is pretty much a braindead slut by choice from the getgo. It's honestly halarious in that respect because the game lets you decide whether she's a virgin or not in the beginning, when this has effectively zero impact on her ability or willingness to strip for just about anyone she sees.

Player choice is...I don't want to say it's nonexistant, because you can at times decline or approve certain things but...I'll put it this way: The very first choice in the game is one that goes ahead with what it wants regardless of your selection. If that sounds like it's setting a poor tone, it's because it is and it delivers on that. Railroading is very common, you play how the game wants or you don't play at all.

This game features an optional "Lesbian Mode" in the settings. This does about what you'd expect, it automatically declines optional scenes involving males (take care to pay attention to that wording here), but it also genderswaps a few sidecharacters from male to female. Now about that wording, I say it that way because while the explicit scenes are generally optional, there are many scenes involving the MC being ogled or pretty exposed with males that are not optional (see player choice) and are not removed in "Lesbian Mode". It makes a very poor lesbian game for this reason.

To wrap up, I want to give examples of two of my attempts at playing this game:

- The first time I touched this, nearly a year ago if not more, I was looking for corruption games and saw this recommended. I was suitably unimpressed given the lack of corruption or really any sort of character development. You go in and the MC is like "Damn gonna ask this random dude if he wants to touch my titties." and that's just the entire game.

- The attempt before writing this review, where I wanted to try doing a "Lesbian Mode" playthrough and see if I could do a wholesome lesbian relationship with the Japanese girl who's into the MC. I'm writing a two star review so take your guess at how that went. Put some clothes on girl, please.

Overall, I cannot deny that the characters are visually appealing, and I'm sure there's an audience for what this game is. Personally, however, I'm extremely disappointed when considering how engaging it could be.

- sex scenes are not so good - short & bad written ( especially a straight ones, rita looks lifeless in them, almost no emotions/reactions, a completly opposite to lesbian ones)
- game is mostly focused on interactions between girls

if u like lesbian only stuff - game is great, otherwise i don't recommend you this.
Feels like this avn was written by a person, who really don't like guys or just don't know how to properly write them.

Comment: I've been holding off on reviewing this game for a bit but I guess with the same issues coming up over and over again it's not going to change. The narrative and dialogue is the big fall for this game, because of faulty logic and strange and often random thought patterns it comes off as clumsy and amateurish.

The game lacks any substantial erotic writing as well, we get some half-baked description of what is going on then some stale porn line, once you've clicked 3-4 times the scene is over. And I'm not saying the renders are bad but when it's the only thing that holds up the game it's just a hollow experience. I've played some games that looks like it was drawn with crayons and still manages to come out better just by having good writing alone.

What a good story about this naughty girl ;-) She is very curious about sex and test all what is possible and they like. She is very seductive and it is heavy to say no to her.i dont think they get depravity , i think they is a free mind and try many things for her pleasure and maybye the find then a love relationship with on or more girls.i will see.

The game is definitely well put together. There are not many games that you want to replay, but this one goes right to that category. The main character has her kinks but is still an adorable throughout the game (as of v0.17). Same goes for secondary protagonists girls.
What in my opinion may be improved is the sexy scenes variation based on previous choices / stats.
Most of the choices now means just either to show or to skip the entire scene. It is too unrealistic if a player choose a middle ground with choices and at one point a virgin that only teased some friends sudennly grabs a complete stranger and blows him right away or goes all-in with some delivery guy. At least additional "abort action" choice may be implemented into current script without much rework.
Other than that, wery fun project to play no mater what route player chose.

PS. As of v0.17 there is lack of animations in the game, but knowing that it is a one man project, I would rather chose good story and pleasant renders over animated scene that take the same time to create.

Conclusion:
I do like the Game. I love the model choice. They all look very attractive, cute, unique and are not the the same lame-ass models you see in every other game. The same goes for the renders that look great.
But it all kinda goes down from here. You can choose how much sexual experience she has at the beginning of the game, which is a great idea.
But I don´t feel like the choice really influences the story and you don´t see much build-up from her being a virgin to becoming a slut.
She can tease men at the beginning which evolves to handjobs, blowjobs, vaginal and anal, but the story lacks substance on that front and the corruption is so brief. You don´t see her getting introduced to her sexual kinks and interests and the story doesn´t feel impactful because of it.
The Scenes look decent, but so much potential got wasted because there are no animations.
I understand that it takes much time to create animations but the lack of them hurts the game and the immersion.
That being said I do like the game, but it´s a shame that it has these problems or it would’ve been one of the best games on this site.

The story is boring. I can choose if she is a virgin or not from the beginning but that doesn't seem to help her. The first five chapters and she only gives blowjobs. The art and characters are not stimulating. I'll give it a two star boner rating. Needs work to make it erotic.

Great game...a lot of action and great atmosphere. The music, graphics and sound effects are all top-notch. I've been playing for hours and still haven't finished the main story! Highly recommend this one! 10/10 would play again!

Since i was playing the lesbian only route i guessed this game would have only few scenes to play but i was surprised to find that it had a lot of lesbian scenes along with few kinks.But the only shortcoming was that each scenes were somewhat short, it would have been great if they were a little longer.

This game slogs too often for my tastes, but I don't entirely hate it.

Casual Desires gives a lot of time to monologue and mundane activities. You'll be forced to listen to the main character's inner thoughts and feelings on her new boss, her new job, her new friend, how a recent event made her feel--including jokes that occur only within her head, and more. Additionally, you'll watch the main character do a lot of things that don't contribute to the plot, build intrigue, or otherwise reward the reader for reading them.

I really wish the author would've chosen to show the protagonist's feelings towards things through reluctance/reactions, rather than tell us through ten lines of inner deliberation for every emotion and thought. I also wish the author would've focused more on the protagonist's most interesting days and not inserted so much filler.

However, if you have either the patience of a stone or you enable Skip Unread Messages, you will discover a fairly entertaining game. There are a lot of love triangles and some corruption elements that will appeal to many.

The weakest part of the game is plot. Random unprotected* unpaid sexual encounters. Girls should have sex with bosses, fellow employees, friends, at least acquaintances. Better yet use for a gain certain goals.
Whoring for whoring kind of boring.

More than one main heroine. As always killing a mood. You can influence people around without blunt choosing for them. but over all, female great choice for adult game.

Gameplay is VN. very very good.

Story: 2 Stars. The main protagonists are diverse but unfortunately forgettable. They do have a fleshed out story which is good it's not interesting and has very few dynamics beyond Slutty/Not Slutty. I found it weak in terms of interest in the events of the main characters which are several. The choices seem of minimal consequence except which sex scene you get. It's Casual in every sense which may be the intention of the dev but then there's too much filler between scenes should this be the express case.

Renders: 4 Stars. The renders, for the most part are clean and look good. The characters are cute and attractive. There is no animations so every sex scene is completely static but looks good. Imagination required but not a draw back since this is the intended style.

Audio: 3 stars. Decent, has music. No memorable sound effects.

Overall a solid 3 star game. Not bad and has good lesbian and non-lesbian content but lacks animations and a story to truly deliver an experience with many forgettable scenes and content as filler. Not bad but has to be your niche to truly enjoy.

I like the renders. They're a good balance between cartoony and realistic, and different enough from the usual DAZ models to be refreshing.

Where the game completely falls apart is with the main character, IMO. Despite being loose and having "casual desires", she almost never does anything. Most of the action in the game is the MC watching other girls have sex, getting turned on, and then 30 minutes of boring dialogue with no payoff. I will give credit for not doing the awful "about to have sex and then, uh oh! Something happens to interrupt it! hahaha" BS a lot of games do, but this burn is way too slow for me. If the female MC is supposed to be slutty, she should be getting fucked. A lot. Not just watching other people have sex.

Very good a exhibitionism theme work . The start was very awkward and slow , more than two year later, progress has been made , the last three updates have been fantastic .
I hope the author tweaks the character model , because all the girls in this game look like they're 12 years old .

Casual Desires is a slice-of-life style VN featuring a bunch of girls and their sexual escapades.

I have high expectations for VNs since they're a dime a dozen on this site. Casual Desires unfortunately falls short. Slice-of-life style stories typically focus on the personalities of the characters to the exclusion of drama or action. Casual Desires lacks the drama, action... and character personality. The MC is an extremely flat character outside of her high libido. She has no struggles or dreams. She gets a couple jobs that she doesn't need, hangs out with friends and generally does exhibitionist stuff.

Now, don't get me wrong, I fucking love exhibitionist stuff. The sexual escapades in the game are quite good. They veer a little towards the absurd given how the majority of the characters the MC teases are completely passive in response. Nevertheless, a lot of the scenarios are pretty hot and worth seeing, particularly anything with Violet. In addition, the renders in the game are pretty damn good as well.

Unfortunately, everything else is boring as heck. The interactions between the characters outside the sexy times are just empty and mindless. They talk about things that don't matter, aren't interesting, and don't develop them as characters. Worse yet, the game just keeps adding new characters, making it even more difficult to develop the existing characters, who are already extremely thin on personality. Everything that isn't the sex in this game (and there's a lot of it) is flat.

As for the gameplay, there is none. The choices in the game are opt in/out of different sex scenarios. To my knowledge, engaging in different scenes does not make the MC more slutty or accepting of further actions. As a result, this is really just a kinetic novel in which you can opt out of scenes.

Overall, I wish I liked this game more than I do. If the characters had more personality to them or followed a story worth telling, it could jump straight from three stars to five.

Not bad at all, it was a fun experience, I'll be sure to check out a later date to play the whole game The story in general is a fun time with a lot of "fun" and then some interesting mini stories here and there that although simple already caught my interest xd, anyway, best of luck.
