Yeah, well. A lot of us don't like there not being a public release or working on a game we don't like for a year and a half while ignoring this one. Not having a public release is probably the best way to not get patrons.most likely. dev won't like it.
Hopefully it's not one of those that none of those who have it want to release it for months...Welp it's official ep 20 has been released, now to wait until it's posted here and then i can binge play the entire game from start to finish
Steam actually has pretty strict requirements about what pricing a dev can use on other sites if they also want to sell it on Steam. Essentially, you can't "sell" it at a lower/free price on other platforms, from what I understand, and that includes Patreon. Doing otherwise can get the Steam store page rejected or shut down.I feel like IonDivvy is trying to punish people for complaining.
"To prepare the game for its steam launch"
Couldn't you just... Upload the game everywhere?
Either way, still extremely skeptical about if that's actually going to be released or not.
I feel like you've never read the information you claim to know. That's not true at all.Steam actually has pretty strict requirements about what pricing a dev can use on other sites if they also want to sell it on Steam. Just simply no? Where did you get this information from?Steam actually has pretty strict requirements about what pricing a dev can use on other sites if they also want to sell it on Steam. No, that's definitely true. Other devs have mentioned it when releasing their games on Steam, too. Steam has all the leverage and is happy to use it.I feel like you've never read the information you claim to know. That's not true at all.
Hi ename144!No, that's definitely true. Other devs have mentioned it when releasing their games on Steam, too. Steam has all the leverage and is happy to use it.
Of course CD isn't being released on Steam just yet, so it's not entirely clear why this would matter now. I suppose it could be that ionDivvy plans to release the game on Steam before the next chapter (whenever that will be), and having the same version of a game out for free before the Steam release is enough for Steam to get territorial. Hard to say.![]()
At the same time, ionDivvy has said multiple times that part of the reason for the long delay on CD v0.20 is because of difficulties they've faced with getting the game prepared and approved for Steam in terms of taking up what otherwise could be development time and motivation. You might be right about the pre-release pricing (I only know what I've heard from other devs), but if they've already had a struggle to get the game approved in the first place, I could see how they might be motivated to comply with Steam's pricing requirements earlier than strictly necessary in order not to even give the slightest chance of jeopardizing that.Hi ename144!
While it is correct that Steam can be pretty arbitrarly and/or strict how they accept games and all, Steam gives a flying fuck about the pre-Steam situation. For Steam it matters once they have their fingers on a launched game on their site. Iondivvy could easily give out a free version now with zero problems what Steam will think, but I am sure he won´t. Unprintable proven self-censored he is, he wants to punish the CD fans for being critical of him and not swooning at his shenigans and coughing up money well over a year for nothing.
At least I do not have to change my opinion on his personality, he once again proved him being up there with Gumdrop, Aorrta, L&P and some other developers with character cancer.
In Discord, they mentioned they plan for the Steam release of CD to coincide with Chapter 21, which they hope to have ready some time around August, but they can't say for certain yet. So they might just be keeping the door open for a Ch 20 release if Steam says it's good to go or being extra cautious in general since it's taken a lot of frustrating back-and-forth to get the game Steam approved already. No, that's definitely true. Well, since F95 is not your standard pirate forum, over the years of being here it is obvious it is more "Pirates & Patrons"Why does it matter if there is a public version or not? This is a pirate forum. Someone will leak it eventually.
