Nixie isn't gone after the raid on the Hidden Village. If you go north, while being in the village, you can meet her and actually take her with you but only if you sided with the beasts. Baako isn't gone too but you must wait until the story gets more content.

Normally you should be allowed to go upstairs during daytime once you flirted with the secretary once and got access to the second floor.

If you are in the equipment menu you must scroll down since rings have their own section. Be careful to read which ring goes for what finger. You can't equip a ring for the left finger on your right finger.
