VN - Ren'Py - Completed - Chasing Sunsets [v1.01] [Stone Fox Studios]

Highest tier game on this platform. Don't hesitate, Just play it already. this is very very rare that I read all the dialogues of a game. Truly amazing. I can see dev give updates on time with a good amount of content, Which is a very huge plus as well.

The actual sex scenes might not be the best I've seen, they're passable enough.

But these characters are some of the best I've seen. This is one of the few times where I am playing entirely to see the story. I think that deserves praise. You quickly grow to love and hate some of these characters. It's soap-y at times, but it's excellent.

I just finished Chapter 3 and... I had to stop playing, because I don't want it to end so soon.
This game is amazing. And believe me, I don't say these words lightly.

It might be the best written game I have ever played. Mature, charming and at moments genuinely funny. I'm not gonna spoil the story for you, just play it, it's worth it!

If I could, I'd give it 6/5.

To say, as many above did, that this is good, in however many superlative words, seems... small. This VN brings me Joy. In spite of dark tones, in spite of pain and suffering, the overwhelming feeling I get from this, up to Chapter 4, is Joy. Not ahahah joy, but, satisfied sigh, relax on the chair, single malt in hand, Joy.

Now, for a controversial point, this is one of the VN's I would enjoy just as much without lewds. I appreciate them, but, would still write exactly this same post (without this part) if they weren't there. Can't think of a higher praise.

The dialogue is so damn good. Typically I skip like 80% or more of dialogue because it is all fluff that can be guessed with a few key words while fast forwarding.
This one? I skipped maybe 5%.

4 Chapters in and I'm hooked.

The story is compelling, with mysteries to ponder, and interesting characters. The framing device seems to fall by the wayside for chapters 3 and 4, but I suspect we'll see more of it in the future.

We seem to be light on choices, but the story more than makes up for it so far. I enjoy the use of flashbacks to give greater context, in addition to ratcheting up the drama and tension. One particular flashback to the MCs childhood is the deciding moment in his and his sister's relationship, and seems to be ultimately the impetus to the wedge driven between them creating for interesting moments between them.

The characters are for the most part enjoyable, and sympathetic.

Eagerly looking forward to more chapters.

Should you play this game, be aware your bar regarding writing and dialogs will raise to a level that may damage other games experience, such is the quality Chasing Sunsets provides us.

From plot to graphics its a 5 star game, so I will point the only two flaws imho:
Mallorys skin/texture/light is so plastic that it breaks the immersion, should get more attention being such a leading role.
Anims are... well... poor at best. Need to be improved else removed cause they harm the overall game.

First off in my view this is an excellent visual story 1st with sex included, not the other way around, which in my opinion is a good thing and extremely hard to achieve. I didn't expect something of this quality on F95.

I've played through this game fully once so far and have to start by saying kudos to the writers for the way they've handled the introduction, really brilliant. The long introduction makes this stand out for me as much more than a porn game. It's sometimes thought quite provoking too (personal memories touched)... I got into this game after a couple of aborted attempts previously (time constraints and that it's a slow burn) & really glad I did!

The story writing is excellent (thoughtful, well constructed and witty) 5/5.
The graphics too are 5/5, maybe 4/5 on the sex scenes but generally brilliant.

Also shout out to how these difficult topics have been handled by the writers, speaking from experience of a shitty childhood albeit nowhere near as bad as with Mallory in the story. This is well handled and the reactions are fairly realistic (running away and coming back to the issue later on as with the MC).

Both the main characters Jaye and Mallory who interact with the MC are, in my view stunning models graphicly but more importantly there's a lot of substance to them to enable the player to feel empathy with both as well as the MC..

I've played this once so far and tried to do trust & platonic love with Mallory and both with Jaye (given that from the prologue in essence she is the MC's dream).

Maybe I'm odd but I'd like to play this in a way I think I'd have chosen given personal memories etc (mutual love and help for 2 damaged people) so would have gone for a full relationship with Mallory and platonic trusting relationship with Jaye. However, there's the issue of paternal tests which would stop me (wouldn't consider incest) so would wait and see where that goes before taking things to the next level.

I'm not a picky eater when it comes to AVNs. Honestly I was hesitant giving the game a try because of the multitude of ways this game's story can go.
Now...all I can say is WOW. The story is original, well thought out and structured. The way it is incorporated into the choices that you make during the game, and how it branches out to smaller sub-plots is great. When you write a novel, you generally do this, and then you pick the most interesting path that you show to your readers. Here, this very process is present and you can further explore the branches of the story and with it the characters that enrich it.
Using that as a segway, I gotta say, the characters are very intriguing. I've fallen in love with almost each and every one of them. Jaye is a genuine romantic with self-conflictive issues. Mallory is a box full of laughs and tragedy. The supporting cast are amazing as well and further enhance the whole story and setting. The main character along with the two lead starlets, are genuine personas that I can see the author has worked quite a lot on.
I don't feel like this review is giving the game enough credit.
I got hooked not only on the game and story, but also on the characters, the witty humor and some amazing slice of life situations that I can nod to nostalgically. I look forward for the game's completion of new chapters. Apart from supporting the two developers financially I would really love to lend them a hand, with anything to be honest.

I scrolled away from this one more times than I should have. Finally took the dive and was insanely impressed. This is an amazing VN. Big, BIG props to StoneFox for fantastic writing and *easily* some of the absolute best renders on this site.

If you are currently on the fence about trying this game, take my advice and just go for it. It really is something special. The character dynamics just feel so real.

I played V0.2 a while ago, and am partway through 0.5b at the time of this writing.
First off, I fell in love with this game back when I first played it, and I'm guilty of not keeping tabs on it since.
The writing is always the biggest selling point in any good game for me, and the writing in this game is beyond good. The quick-witted and off color jokes are priceless, and the story is very well written and fleshed out.
The girls, though - oh my Gosh, where to start? I love how they each have their own believable personality and mannerisms, but that almost pales in comparison with how freaking HOT they are! The faces they make when embarrassed, or flirty, or thoughtful are just mesmerizing. They're just so captivating, I find myself wishing I could meet them irl.
The dev has gone above and beyond to create a story worthy of our time, with girls that will bring you back again and again. I cannot wait to see what unfolds in the future, both with the conclusion of Chasing Sunsets, and other games Stone Fox Studios might make later on.

Quite an amazing game, glad i somewhat randomly found it!
Really liked the dialog and personalities in this one, it's really well written and a little bit out of the ordinary. I also love that choices are able to influence the story, i hate it when choices barely matter.
The renders and visuals are very pretty as well. Plus for the facial expressions! Not always one hundred percent on point, but mostly, and then they add nicely to the VN.
Also i personally am a sucker for the Faye model, thats obviously subjective, but made me enjoy the game even more.
Overall 5/5, given the fact, that this game is not that well known on here, definitely a secret tip!

Playing this VN gave me the feeling of being in love, i felt all kinds of emotions and even shed some tears, and i simply love all the characters, art, story, dialogues, and sound so much . I stopped playing after chapter 3, because i simply can't wait for chapter 5 when i finish 4. Jaye is my favorite in any game i have played and so is the protagonist. I want this next chapter so much faster, and really considering becoming VIP on patreon, this game should be number 1 rated!

Really great VN so far, with multiple very likeable girls and an interesting story to say the least! options are nice, UI is good and the development and cast really hook you in. Patiently waiting for the next update and definitely one I will be continuing and replaying

Chasing Sunsets by Stone Fox Studios can be summoned up in one short word, "HOT". This is a grown up, sexy, fun & thought-provoking avn. I got this one when it was first released and have been hooked since. Makes you feel like you're reading or watching a really enjoyable book/movie.

One of the best renders that I have seen on this page, an unbeatable quality and care in the visual section, I can only say positive things in that regard, but the writing, the story, the script, are a complete disaster, each chapter the story becomes more and more absurd, the characters interact little with each other, a lot of "blue balling", the MC is a species of Nathan Drake, his "sister" I have no idea what personality he has, the other girl is a bipolar super reporter, the main characters are billionaires, etc, etc, etc.

Humble advice, quickly end all this of the conspiracy of the pharmaceutics, and focus on the main characters, develop it and simplify the story, less is more.

This is by far the best game I've seen on this platform in a long while. The renders are stunning. The characters too, from the looks as well as from character development. Choices actually matter and the story is captivating.

Its not often that I actually read ALL and not just skip to the juicy part after a while.
