I made it to the long set of stairs before the game crashed and sent me back to the beginning. Is this normal?

I tried this a while ago and recall not liking it that much. Wasn't bothered by the weird shit and the art is really good but it was incredibly slow and frustrating to play and had a confusing story. Probably better off just getting the CG pack.
