The devs already addressed this topic long back. Daniel looks 'fruity as hell' but he is portrayed as a dominant man ( inspired by kpop ),who has shown (as of now )interest in only women like ada and cindy. He isn't submissive or gay just because he doesn't look macho enough and wears earrings in a particular ear

If that's what you want to call it, but personally I wouldn't go looking to jump somebody for gay sex just because he had the hook on his fishing pole backwards.

Yes! Because your gaydar isn't finely tuned! That's what I'm saying! It's very common among people who come from places where the gay culture isn't really present, like rural areas, especially in red states. But I've lived in Los Angeles since the mid 1980s, so I'm pretty good at picking up the signals.
If you're gay, take my advice. Look for guys wearing earrings in their right ears. It's the oldest signal in the book!
You're welcome!

Seems like a good way to get beat up or arrested to me. Still that does prove my point, just because its some sort of social sign in parts of California in the 1980s doesn't mean its accepted as a social signal everywhere

I don't even know where to begin to unpack it, tbh. But: the character looking "fruity as hell" to you doesn't mean he is. That's just your (very shallow) stereotyping and what seems like a kneejerk reaction to anything even remotely gay, even if that gay is only in your head.

Similarly, unless you are the living embodiment of the female MC it really doesn't matter if you personally aren't falling in love with that guy or his appearance isn't matching your tastes when it comes to men. It's the MC's own attraction and you are not her. There's plenty women who are into "fruity looking guys" if K-pop bands are any indicator, and this game has characters which follow this kind of aesthetics. They can enjoy this game, while you're free to play something that appeals to you more. Be it a game full of hairy bears or whatever you're into.

Finally, "looking fruity" doesn't mean such man can't be also dominant (or a boss of a company) so the only thing failing here is your suspension of disbelief which is, again, based on just your own apparent stereotyping and prejudices.

(also, okay, let's see you're genuinely just trying to help the developer by posting this. So, what do you expect the developer to do in response to this help? Redo the graphics of the whole game in hope the male lead will meet the approval of a person on the intrawebs who said he didn't look stereotypically masculine enough...?)
I've said so at least three times at this point: I DON'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT K POP! And I don't care to learn! Not a priority for me.
And if you think a guy can be both a twink and a Dom, I'm sorry, you're TERRIBLY mistaken!
And, actually, this is a role-playing game, so I actually AM the MC! That's what playing a role-playing game means! You take on the role of the main character! So, when I'm playing the game, I'm about as her as can be! So my tastes and opinions in this regard DO matter!
And also for at least the third time: I LIKE THIS GAME! You're making me sound like I don't, but I DO! I'm enjoying it thoroughly! I just don't like the way the character Daniel Park looks. If I was a Hollywood movie director or producer, and this was my movie, I would fire the casting director who hired a guy who looked like that to play that role. But I wouldn't change the script! The script is gold! I don't understand why you people are making such a big deal about a comment that I made that was meant as constructive criticism with regards to an otherwise great game.

SINCE the 1980s! Learn to read, dude! And probably a lot longer than that. Before the mid 80s, I was still in diapers, so I can't say for sure either way, but I wouldn't be surprised if this convention dates back even a lot earlier.

Don't complain about something you don't want to understand.

An example: In Southern Europe, names like “Andrea” or “Silva” are completely normal male names. In Central Europe, however, these names are only for women. When an Italian man named Andrea comes to Germany, everyone laughs at him because he has a woman's name there.

I don't like Daniel's appearance either. In countries like Europe and America, he looks too effeminate and feminine. BUT, in countries like South Korea and Asia, as well as anywhere where people like K-pop, Daniel looks completely normal.

And that's what matters. In the world where Cinderella is set, Daniel fits in quite naturally.

Anyone who consumes a book, film, or game should adapt their mindset to the world and the rules of that world. Otherwise, a lot of things will seem out of place.

Man, I don't know how many good looking muscled hunks/macho muscular men that would break your jaw with just one punch I saw (thoroughly enjoyed) and yet they are huge bottoms in gay porn. So yeah, looks/muscles aren't sign of a dominant man.

What is your evidence of this?
The story takes place in a place called "Cheshire City." The name "Cheshire" is so English that it turned my coffee into tea. I doubt much K-Pop is listened to there. Now, I grant you, I haven't played the whole game. Indeed, I decided to quit and wait for more updates. But is it revealed at some point that I'm mistaken and this story takes place in the ROK, please tell me. Because I certainly haven't seen it so far.
Just because a few of the main characters are slanty-eyed doesn't mean shit. I used to work in an office right on the intersection of Wilshire and Normandie. ("Wilshire," by the way, just as English as "Cheshire.") You know what that part of LA is called? KOREATOWN! So they're certainly not confined to their peninsula. They're well-represented here too.

Here is what the developer himself wrote. I think he should know his own game best:
We looked to more east Asian aesthetics for our character designs! We felt that there was an open market focused on this sort of style for western games (outside of Japanese Eroge games). Kpop singers tend to be very pretty and sexy, and that's why they're so popular! I'm glad you found the characters pretty! We wanted them to be sexy and appealing for both male and female audiences!

OK. Thank you for that information... But then why did he call the city where the game takes place "Cheshire?" Add that to the list of mistakes he made. Hopefully shedding light on it here will help him avoid similar mistakes in the future.
The art in this game is VERY good. Even though the character of Daniel Park looks like a guy who would have gotten beaten up in my neighborhood when I was a kid (not by me, of course, but beaten up nevertheless), I still think he, and all the other characters, are rendered beautifully. Furthermore, I think making a character look like Daniel Park looks is fine, if he were playing a twink or a bottom. But in a Dom role? The dude just doesn't fit the part. And I'm glad that the game allows choices so I can avoid any D/s content with him.
Thank you.

We named the city Cheshire as part of the fairy tale motif we want for the game (i.e. Cheshire Cat from Alice in Wonderland). The main character is called Cinderella, with Daniel being her prince and Ada being her fairy godmother ^^ But its not meant to be that much deeper than that haha

The city is western with a big Asian population, think somewhere like San Francisco!

And yes, a lot of the Asian characters are inspired a lot from East Asian aesthetics from Korea, China etc. It's a bit different from a lot of western designs, especially with how masculinity is portrayed, but we're glad a big part of our audience is into it! Of course, there's other paths for characters who have different appeals too!

...... Mods will probably clear up this thread since the topics are going way off course but just a pointer : do not stereotype ppl based on their physical appearances and their behavior. That's rude irl and is sometimes a one way ticket to being blocked. Men built like wwe fighters can be bottoms or subs and those built like twinks can be tops or doms. Same goes for women. There are muscular, butch women all happy to be subs to top, femme women. U can obviously have preferences but don't push it on others pls. As the devs said, daniel is inspired by east asian men who don't look 'macho' but that doesn't determine their personalities and certainly doesn't dictate their sexualities.
