Well, some may find it preposterous, but I'll elaborate anyway.
Since vast majority of porn game players are men, straight to boot, and likewise vast majority of porn game creators are also straight males, a specific problem of female protagonist arises. A lot of players tend to either identify with the protagonist or establish an otherwise intimate psychological connection, which, while not a problem when playing a straight male PC, creates a moral and emotional dissonance of sorts when a woman is the heroine. Thus your typical player will sooner let his female PC get repeatedly violated by a band of stinking orcs or marry a horse or love another woman than accept a situation when she may become enamoured of a dick whose owner (even if purely fictional) is not themselves. She may be aroused by dicks, she may fall in love with non-males, but she better not fall in love with males equipped with sexually arousing dicks that the player will not be able to identify with. Porn and romance don't mix well for men.
Oooooh man, I feel you. I'm not sure what to think about what others said, but as I mentioned already, even if the game doesn't reflect it, I try to make logical choices. As if I was in the place of MC. That's one of the problems, I try to distance myself and play more as Claire rather than myself, but it's just difficult trying to seduce a man just becouse he is a man, when I can go for someone I, as the guy sitting behind monitor, liked the most (and that's reliable and strong women most of the time. Rather calm than extraverts too. Anyway). But at the same, I personally am also rather not that satisfied with what you mentioned, rape and monsters, as I said, I'm sucker for true romance and for now there are only two paths are like that (in my opinion and I might have forgotten something), Sally and the redhead, so I'd chose them over everything in this game. EDIT: I should mention, we are all here, playing those games and creating our own opinions for different reasons, so saying yours is "preposterous" is stupid in my opinion. I'm changing the subject a bit, but so far 2 other users told me that I'm getting too attached and I should go outside, touch some grass and stuff, when I tried to discuss the best romance option instead of just going and fucking everyone. Maybe I'm deranged, but I'm playing these games to get some simple mechanics to mess with, be it minigames or some simple fighting/exploration system, roleplay as making logical choices instead of going for most sexual content available and also some plotline, other than finding material to beat my meat to, you know? I could open any porn or hentai site and be done in a couple of minutes, but that's not my objective. That's why, once more, I'm a bit dissatisfied there isn't a real romance option but corruption and rape all the time.
