I installed the new version of this game, I've no sound at all? It's a bug, right? Did it happen to any of you?

It seems that Claire Quest on Steam survived the purge and the game was not removed. In case anyone didn't know, there are new Steam regulations. A lot of adult titles with themes of slavery and incest have disappeared (plus one title that seems to have been caught in the crossfire: Trials of Innocence, a detective game in the style of the Ace Attorney series; via Automaton).

My soul just died a little hearing this, doesn't sound good for my own VN being released on Steam. It doesn't have incest, but it's close enough for it to be an issue.

This could be bad news for adult RPGM/Novels in general now, including Claire's Quest. It might not be removed right now, but it has shota-like content in it and bestiality, which I presume isn't in the steam version?

Steam was a big part of developers' plans to make money, but that might not be an option anymore. Considering the most popular threads on F95 are titles with incest (not all), not sure how this affects the development of them and Claire's Quest now. It could slow down development in some titles now, and this feels like just a start to more regulations against adult content on steam, maybe.

As someone who can't check itself for that, where did you get your info from?
That policy change looks like bad news in general.

Valve has added an additional point to Steam's rules. The new ban prohibits the release of content that may violate the rules of payment processors. Steam is targeting games that violate the rules of payment processors, banks, and internet service providers, including controversial adult content. It has not yet been updated in all countries, but this is only a matter of time. However, the English recommendations and prohibitions for Valve partners now include the following item on the list of items that cannot be published on Steam: Content that may violate the rules and standards set by Steam payment processors and associated card networks and banks or internet service providers. In particular, certain types of content intended exclusively for adults. As noted by internet users (via Reddit / service X), after this modification to the terms of service, a lot of adult content disappeared from Steam.

Currently, most of the content that has been removed is futanari and incest. Later, bestiality and various types of slavery were also randomly removed. However, this mechanism is not ideal. It also affects games that are not erotic. If you create a visual novel game about slavery, there will be an issue.

Yeah, this is bad. Steam is going to follow payment processor rules from now on and that is why Patreon is so restrictive. Subscribe Star will go that way eventually. heck, even Onlyfans tried to change to match payment processors, but due to severe negative press, Only fans gave in.

Games like Claire's Quest are going to eventually be removed from steam, sadly.

Just for information. There is a bug in version (0.28.3). The "Inside Job" quest. After giving the cod liver oil to the lighthouse keeper, you teleport to the street and see bandits approaching, but then... you can't do anything. You're paralyzed, unable to move, nothing happens except the background music, until you force yourself out of the game. It's clashing with the SoF questline, a fix will be issued with the next update!

I see big changes coming. And not just for the better. It seems censorship is returning. It's not just Steam that's been censored. Adult games are also disappearing from itch.io. Many controversial games with sexual content have been removed from Itch.io's offerings (not only are they no longer available for purchase, but those who previously purchased them can't download them again). However, while Steam limited itself to this, Itch.io has introduced much more aggressive censorship, effectively preventing the discovery of erotic games still distributed on its store. Most tags associated with sexual content have been removed. Only the "NSFW" tag has survived, as it encompasses more than just erotica. Less controversial erotic games will still be sold on Itch.io, but to find them, you'll need to obtain a link to them from another source (e.g., from the developers themselves or on social media). There will no longer be an option to discover this type of title by browsing the Itch.io store. In an official announcement, the Itch.io team stated that the recent changes are the result of intervention by payment processors. Some might say, "What do I care?" I reply that it could affect other stores, institutions, gaming companies, and Patreon. More will follow suit.
