Girl Life does just fine somehow. I don't think the issue is QSP. The issue is how they use it.
That's a fair point, my perspective is tinged by my personal experiences. It (Girl Life and Clean Slate, the two 'way big' QSP games that I play) keep crashing when I play, but I'm willing to blame that more on Windows 10/11 (or perhaps an obscure hardware conflict) than the alleged limitations of QSP, as it doesn't seem to be a widespread problem.

Yes.. the video/picture/audio pieces of QSP being so reliant on correct codecs and even correct versions on player's machines.. that was more always the issue than the "TEXT" of QSP.
If you played this even w/ Sonnix's version of the player.. there was still some audio files and movie files within the graphics download of the game, that not only could cause a crash because of those video/audio codec issues.. there was still some videos that would play audio even if you muted everything in the settings.

This was always more about issues with media.. than anything else.
There was some issues with the various variables, arrays, variable maps, etc.. but that was always a coding tracking issue and partly due to how much of this was ripped from an old cut down version of girllife way back in the day. There was sections of the code that almost still matched girllife line by line for a while even up until the last few months before Mug started the Twine version.

I have windows 11 and have never once crashed with Girl Life. Are you using QSP version 9? Different games require different versions of QSP and Girl Life uses the newer version but for instance Evil 2 only works with QSP 5.

I recently (as in, yesterday) got back into playing them for the first time since I think August (still haven't tried Girl Life, actually, should do that next) but I think the crashing problem has gone. I changed a lot of things about my setup in response to a rather more serious Graphics Card crashing issue a few months ago, which was likely responsible for my previous troubles. Since I throttled the maximum clockspeed to 90% (AMD drivers are something else with the laundry list of potential solutions to problems) I think the issue has lessened. Now the video simply won't load, which looks jarring, but it doesn't crash and lets me continue without issue.

(I also changed some BIOS settings for my RAM, and upgraded to Windows 11. RAM stuff might have helped, but I doubt Windows 11 had any impact at all.)

That could be the game being fucked up. In Evil 2 if I have the game open for more than like an hour the videos will all break and I have to restart QSP just always happens. Girl Life I have never had those kinds of issues as it just seems to be better programmed having been worked on by so many people over a long time without being abandoned.

It was the same issue in both games, I found. In Girl Life, i had to save before going into the gloryhole at the rec centre, because there was one video in particular it would try and pull up that would make QSP shit the bed and crash. In Clean Slate, it's the bus, if my character got harrassed and went along with it, there was one video in particular that would make it shit the bed and crash. (I say one video in particular, but obviously it crashes so I can't know that for sure. But it would make sense.)

ah ok i guess the last qsp version was the breaking point before the switch on how the qsp can handle stuff heck i was noticing the images and videos breaking even before they get overloaded
If you just didnt rely on the images and videos (and really in most cases if you just nuked the audio/video files that took care of most the crash issues, while most were fine, there was a few vids that could crash the engine), there was nothing "overloaded" about QSP at all.. other than some crazy variable groups and arrays and lost tracking of what was what from when pieces were built off an old glife.qsp file.
To try and import all the "new" stuff from twine back to qsp wouldnt work, as while lots of the concepts are the same, the code blocks are just different enough.

well i said that since the last version i touched was 1.1.4 and since i barely know anything about qsp files how would i know what can overload it's process and what not
