That sounds completely wrong from what I saw of the whole thing, S-purple and another or two other people that were part of that project released statements about what happened.

Cloud meadow looks pretty good, but I figured it would have issues like so many other games were it just stagnates because they need to rework the game or their ambitions were too high. Worst case they actually are just racking in the funding and purposely not doing much on the game. I don't back much of anything on patreon and normally keep an eye out until an eventual release comes out and I'll buy the game at that point mostly.

It's not so much about comparing this game to another game as it is about a much better game with actual progress was killed to make cloud meadow possible.

S-purple (who is the lead on this game... or rather I should say is the founder of the project) was the artist for Breeding Season. A game which has spawned almost an entire genre of games (Breeders of the Nephelym, Breeding Farm, and several other's that were poor attempts at cash grabs by comparison), and Breeding Season was huge, at the time it was the project making the most money on patreon of any other project. H-bomb was the creator and he actually developed the game start to finish in a few years, there was actually a final version of the game. And then they decided that they wanted to do a revamp, change some art, improve some animations, maybe add some features. And shortly after they started doing that the updates started becoming late. H-bomb would tell us to be patient as we were waiting on the art, s-purple was no longer doing his live art streams. And eventually we found out the project is dead.

S-purple's contract as part of the team gave him ownership of all the art he created for the game and he took possession of most of the art in the game and blocked Breeding Season from being able to use it anymore. Despite the fact that the people who actually followed the progress knew that the art was the hold-up in the last few months, S-purple somehow appeals to a large majority of the patrons to Breeding Season on patreon and convinces them that H-bomb was causing delays in the project. That he was trying to broaden the scope of the game too much and S-purple claimed that he could see that the project was going to end up in a development limbo of slow updates and that the game could never actually be fully finished with the way H-bomb was managing it (sound familiar...? it should if you've paid any attention to cloud meadow's development progress). He claimed that H-bomb had lost interest in the game and was actually dabbling in streaming himself playing video games instead of spending project time doing development (which it is true H-bomb started streaming games... but he started doing that because his piece of each update would be finished and they'd be delayed in releasing because the art wasn't done).

So now you've got 10's of thousands of dollars worth of patrons (I can't remember how high it got, but I think it was almost up around 80,000 dollars a month by the time the project was killed... don't quote me, bad memory for numbers) putting their full trust into S-purple and pledging their support on his new patreon site for cloud meadow. And the amount of money he's been pulling in on that patreon has been waning over the years, but it's still at almost 18,000 right now which is ludicrous considering the output on this game on what feels like a semi-year basis at this point.

Long story short... the scam is that S-purple killed an actual viable property he was only a team-member for so he could create his own project using the reputation of Breeding Season to make his project instantly and obscenely profitable. And all the issues he claimed were going to plague the future of Breeding Season - if H-bomb continued to run the project his way - LITERALLY happened and is still currently happening to cloud meadow under S-purple's leadership.

On a legal loophole that was just meant to be a perk for his portfolio of being on the team, S-purple killed a real project to create a "game" that has gotten no tangible progress in years, yet is still making an obscene amount of money.

Seeing how he actively tricks people for years, releases these openly false advertisements for his game and making empty promises, all just to suck more money from the naive hamsters, how much faith do you have in his words about his innocence in that case with BS?

Can you clarify, exactly what part of this game "looks good" (aside from visuals)? It's a breeding sim without actual breeding (after incest was removed from the game), farming sim without any original (or at least a bit interesting) farming, dungeon crawler without any real goal/reason to dungeon-crawl.

As far as I recall, S-purple stated that his reasons of leaving BS were something like "bad management" and "lack of understanding of direction the project should take" from H-bomb. But tell me, does CM has any of that? A good management, or clear understanding of projects goals? Maybe interesting/original gameplay? Stable code? Nope, this "game" fails in every direction it tries to take (aside from being a simple gallery).

I have no horse in this race, but the people saying "let the game die" aren't helping that cause by even coming back here and commenting. If you want it to die, stop talking about it. Simps gonna simp no matter what you do. Leave a (fair) review and move along, is my advice.

S-purple does have legitimate talent as an artist. And reading his side of the story is quite compelling. I can recall being on the fence about the truth after that got posted. But even just a year or two into cloud meadow's development it became clear that the game's progress was not going any better than Breeding Season's was at the end. As a patron of Breeding Season, I felt burned by the way the project was just dissolved... the money I had put into the project gone completely to waste. So I was feeling too salty to take a chance on cloud meadow (and in fact I haven't participated in any crowdfunding patronage of any kind since, I was so soured to the concept by that experience).

I tried cloud meadow a couple times in its early to mid development and the gameplay design was clunky, the adult content was minimal, and it just felt like a cheap cash-grab. The situation has really just clarified itself in the last 3 years. While S-purple's response to H-bomb's claims was quite compelling, the results of his own project so closely resemble his complaints about what was happening to the Breeding Season project under h-bomb that it's almost impossible to look at that post and take it seriously today.

I think what they did was pretty dog reasons aside, just from what I read on s-purple's post seemed compelling but I can't say much else than that because I have no idea about either of their histories.

Well yeah I like their art, big fan of pixel art as well. Game wise although lacking and probably trying to reach too much into several things I thought it could flesh out to be pretty good. Not all games need to be groundbreaking, I just think it could have turned into something good.

Gutting some content and not fleshing out parts of their game properly seems to be what's just making it a whole lot worse.

Also the whole idea of monster/monstergirl breeding is a major interest for me and probably a lot of other people which is why they're willing to still back s-purple even knowing what happened.

I'm mostly keeping an eye on it from an outside perspective. Also I think patreon the company itself is pretty terrible now anyway because of how they're forcing out a lot of porn content which originally made them pretty big.

Cloud Meadow is in the same hole S-purple "saved" Breeding Season from. It was sketchy as hell when it happened and looking at it now I wouldn't put too much stock in what he says. If you want to know more about his history look up BroQuest, another flopped game idea he was doing art for.

I have zero faith in Cloud Meadow going anywhere and it was never a good successor to Breeding Season anyway with how farming always took a back seat to combat. I've moved on to Breeders of the Nephelym, it gets the farming stuff I liked without getting too wrapped up in visual novel and combat fluff like the other Breeding Season-likes.

It won't be finished. In the time it took them to make a game with good CG and shit/demo gameplay for the last 4 years- they'd be better off donating the money they get and getting full time day jobs than continue working on it. Tbh, it's the worst form of developer that exchanges apathy for content. No tips, no tricks, no service. Advance the story, give us different dungeons, fuck. Even Innoxia's text based game with endless bug fixes & shallow as a puddle game play has more content lmao.

This right here. UnRen and other extraction tools make this site for me. Not going to sit through bugs, shitty dialogue, grindy gameplay just for some nice lewd images. Damn, I come back to this post after 2 years to find that the game is still as shitty (gameplay wise) as it was when it started. I didn't honestly think much about it cuz every game doesn't start out great. But damn I expected to game to be a lot better that I thought it was. Sad, but hey what you gonna do?
