Calm down, development is too strong a word. They make the smallest changes about every 3-4 months to say it's not dead. Let me remind you that the it's still in 0.2 version. Even DF, which is done by basically one dude and is a hardcore simulation, is already in 0.5...

I gave the game a try and I'm not seeing what all the hype is about given by the 4 and 5 star raters. Does this bland game have some sort of religious significance or deeper message that I'm missing?

It's the visuals. The artwork, design and animation of CM is on point and almost unmatched by anything in the H-game scene. Makes it even sadder how the devs clearly don't give a shit about their project because most of the character designs I've seen in this game are so memorable I wish they were in a better story.
