Ok, I guess it's time talk about this again.

The original demo was proof of concept. I had a bunch of sprites and animations I wanted to showcase that I painstakingly stitched together into something resembling a game.
It was the first time I tried making a game. I had no idea what I was doing, how I should advertise it, who the intended audience was, what to expect. Nothing. In that sense it's completely true - the game wasn't intended to be M2F. It wasn't intended to ne anything. And since it didn't have a plot, the gender didn't matter either.
That was 3 years ago. Where have you been all this time to now pop up and be surprised the game isn't turning out the way you want?

The moment you introduce context, things like gender start to matter. I could NOT write anything remotely competent with a gender neutral protagonist. Writing is hard enough as is for me, without resorting to esoteric techniques.

Could you write 2 routes one for male and one for female instead? Sure, you can also make 2 different games, or 20. If it's not apparent I barely have time to work on one.

Could you make a game without a plot and characters? Yes, but it's uninteresting to me. The fetishes I like live and die through social interactions. Even pregnancy. A game that has no characters to acknowledge changes makes the changes meaningless. I won't force myself to make something I can't enjoy myself.
I'll go a step further. You can blame Magical Camp for being one of the 3 games directly responsible for this project existing. It was proof of concept to me that it is possible to make a game about feminization that I could personally enjoy. Without it this project would have never went past the showcase stage.
And by extension Coffee Story Extra would also not be made, because I would simply lack the resources for it.

I've added a freeplay mode. All it does is removes all story and character interactions and changes the protagonist to female from the start.
I don't know if I'm making things better or worse, since I clearly didn't attract the audience I wanted.
At the moment the only way you get to access this is by setting "story" to 0 in the config.ini

To address you specifically,

I don't understand. Are you implying I should feel sympathy towards people that don't like M2F games because I don't either?
That's nonsensical. The group you're talking about doesn't like M2F content in general. I just don't like most M2F games.

Because the story isn't about a protagonist that gets turned into a donkey. It's about a male protagonist that gets feminized, has to deal with it and find a way to turn back. If you cut it out there's almost no story left. Certainly no character development.

Name 5 M2F games that you think would have a better story if the M2F component was removed.

Thank you for the commentary. It's nice to see how things are shaping up outside your own perspective.
A supporter once sent me a message that it felt weird that Kari signed up the protagonist for the pregnancy program. That it was out of character. It completely blew my mind as I couldn't refute it at the time.

Again, I don't consider current time consumption a bug. Why do you think this is a problem?

I can't recreate Kari's bug. Are you sure you were using the latest version? Do you have any idea what you did for it to happen?

I really like the game as it has been developing over the years.
I would much rather you just keep going ahead with your plans.
Its just the vocal minority that like to complain.

I get where you are coming from, Believe me I really do. So I hope I can relieve you by clarifying a few things for you.
As for why I did not cheer the earlier state of the game as I sigh the new direction is that I was satisfied with what others had said, The content was very good and it's a promising start for such a loose project.

My understanding is that you are a fan of M2F that's disappointed with every M2F game you played, Is this wrong?
That the reason you played M2F games in the first place is that you are inclined to enjoy M2F but like finding a fly in the ointment some aspect of the story diminishes your enjoyment enough that you hated it despite everything you did like. That disappointment is shared by fans of "vanilla" pregnancy and feminization games whenever they find out that M2F is not optional content.

I've added a freeplay mode. All it does is removes all story and character interactions and changes the protagonist to female from the start.

I guarantee that will make things better even if you're not motivated enough to add a selector in game.
It would however be beneficial if players could retain the story and character interactions even if it doesn't make sense context wise with a female protagonist, I think it would help people provide more context when testing and if you care possibly enable someone to more easily rewrite the text/dialog for the female protagonist so everything makes sense contextually. (Edit: Story = 0 does not seem to do anything beyond change the MC's idle animation.)

Because the story isn't about a protagonist that gets turned into a donkey. It's about a male protagonist that gets feminized, has to deal with it and find a way to turn back. If you cut it out there's almost no story left. Certainly no character development.
-Turned into a donkey/gets feminized is the premise, it is not the story in itself but an event the story is built around.
Some kinds of premise can only lend themselves to one type of story while others are open ended in where they can go.
Even if the events and story beats are exactly the same between the two, A story premised on gender change will have different characterization from a story premised on feminization of the protagonist.

Name 5 M2F games that you think would have a better story if the M2F component was removed.
Considering what I previously said, What do you mean by better story exactly?
Also I never stated removal of M2F component was an improvement, I said inclusion of female-feminization adapted from preexisting M2F components was an improvement.

I could see Kari badgering the protagonist to sign up for one reason or another, especially if it's post yellow eye Kari :V
But signing someone up behind their back sounds more like Yuri style move. Yuri: Sorry, already did the paperwork.
I guess I could see Kari do it if the protag has been picking the acceptance answers and making her more willing to be forceful.

I was just wondering if it was a bug or not, but if traveling home is meant to take 5 dots then everything is fine.

It was on 20240505v11.
I saw it once on v9 but couldn't reproduce it then.
On v11 I played as normal, picked acceptance on the first time with Kari to cause the slime nightmare.
Continued the story events until the weekend, got swapped with the mirror.
Then when I visited school while looking like lady Jessica I went to talk with Kari.
Picked Challenge and she did the thing.

I have attached an auto-save right in the school, if you use the desk and go talk to her it should trigger.

Everybody arguing about M2F or puzzles while I'm over here with my potato laptop dealing with characters taking a long ass time to go away in a cutscene and getting lost during the day because no indicator on where to go lol

This is such an odd thing to harp on. They are making a game to focus on the features of M2F that they feel most games of that style lack. Why add all the unnecessary work to add in something that is not part of that focus?

Expressing an idea once and then later elaborating on it in a reply to clarify a misunderstanding isn't harping.
It's a circumstantial thing, Correct me if I am wrong but most strictly M2F focused games don't manage to pull an audience of non-M2F fans in the first place. I think I have already explained reasons for that, So I guess there isn't any need to elaborate further. Also unnecessary work isn't precluded from being a worthwhile effort.

Personally I'm absolutely not attracted to M2F games so I think you're right.
This game approaches M2F in a way that, personally, does not bother me and that I find intriguing. As a non-fan of M2F I find that being able to choose to be F almost from the start is very interesting. Especially since the MC may or may not keep his initial mentality. It must indeed be very hard for Unnie to make everything work and make the story coherent based on our choices, but the plot is extremely interesting and I can't wait to see the new zone!

nb : Big up to the next release of Coffee Story Extra which I'm sure is going to be amazing !

I'm not going to participate in the conversation beyond this, but I only really play M2F games if I can become grill quickly and then get on with it. I'm really not interested in the transitory stuff because the transformation isn't my kink, it's a gate to a more usual fem-protag game that has some other draw.

I get an error when I set 2.2.1 or 2.2.2 in the config (with 2.2.0 there is no error). I also have a low FPS. There was also a case when I got to the point of transformation (test???) and then removed the pregnancy They told me to go to the mirror and I went to free the woman, but in the end my game closed.
X-ray (v,b) does not work yet. Saving and auto-saving also do not work

I can say the complete opposite meanwhile. If I'm looking for m2f, I'm all about the process. If it just happens, it feels like it completely misses the point.
I also have a high preference for futa tf/some way of keeping the dick, so that also reduces my options in terms of content.
I feel like what you described might be what was mentioned before on note of games that'd be better without the tf aspect.
Anyway, Coffee having two paths that can cater to either of our preferences is really cool.

More options is always better, agreed.

unniex Never planned on posting on this website ever, but I'm sure there are a lot of quiet people that look forward to your game, been a long time follower cause your art style and the surreal vibe you've shown. Tried all the betas you released, and always come back hoping you'll work on this game again, you got a hidden gem in the making, and I think you should just continue to make it how you like and however weird you want it to be. The puzzles can be frustrating, but whatever not a big deal, I love just exploring and finding new encounters. Yume Nikki was a game I loved, because of all the crap you find as you explore, the puzzles were something to ponder on as you kept playing, even though I didn't fully beat that game it left an impression on me and yours did as well in a similar way.

TLDR Just make more crazy stuff and have fun with the weirdness, it's a game! I do appreciate a story but don't let it block your creative juices ;) and most people can overlook little mistakes in the plot, fantasy game afterall :D (Also pregnancy in this is wonderful)

Hi there , I play this game on a shitty laptop and it make some place of the game so laggy that it becomes completely unplayable, it takes me forever to cross a corridor and it's impossible to avoid the enemies.
So I want to ask if there is a version of the game more optimized or light that would be playable with my laptop :') I actually "try" to play on the v9

You guys really need to pull back on the cynicism.
I know I don't have a full grasp of the tone of every single post in this thread and I'm not trying to tell people how sensitive they should or shouldn't be, But I don't think the so called hostile/negative comments have really been so. Many have argued that the opposite of love isn't hate but apathy, It isn't exactly 100% true but there definitely is merit to the idea people don't bother caring about things in a negative way if they don't at some level also care in a positive way.
I know I am starting to get pedantic by explaining the core principle behind the emotion of disappointment but I would be really disappointed if Unniex lost interest in completing their projects due to anything I or anyone else here have said.

Basically, the problem is this:

1 - It's a NSFW game, people download it to get off to it.

2 - The puzzles are lengthy in time investment and there is little to no handholding for support.

3 - The game is quite buggy and due to the save system you can lose hours of progress quite easily.

4 - Additional mechanics (food/drink) and story content that adds on extra time investment on top of the puzzles without much if any NSFW content involved.

5 - People don't like these things in NSFW games, so they will download it, play it, then make a negative post. The dev wants to make the game the way they want to make it which is absolutely fine, but negativity is to be expected when people get frustrated after being blueballed lol.

I think this is quite a reasonable way to sum up the general complains around certain elements of the game. People get kinda baited in by the NSFW content, then realize it takes a long time to get it and get annoyed. There is nothing wrong with the gameplay itself persay, it's just the combo of complex puzzle game + NSFW content results in these kinda responses, perhaps a disclaimer when you start would be great so people can set their expectations.
