Agreed in both respects, real life has much more unknowns, though games needn't capture that.I think he's right about the "realism" aspect, for me swinging is fundamentally risky and only for really sturdy couples. But what I disagree with him is the need for a game to always have that kind of realism, since most ntr games aren't realistic anyway. Like in a harem game, nts games can be idealistic on purpose, as those are just games.
As much as I like uncertainty in stories (not a "purist"), I see nothing wrong with pure nts games to exist. They serve their purpose, as any other type of games. Everyone has their favorite kind, sometimes super specific.
On that note I've seen someone write "NTI" on this forum today, what the fuck is that ahah ?
My issue with criticisms of people people overly picky in this realm is there's a subtext here. If I'm talking to like-minded people, there's a wide range of behaviors and events with characters I'd enjoy, I wouldn't call myself a purist. But too often in threads for these games, I see it again and again, posters will masquerade under the guise of flexibility and reasonableness, but then over time you start realizing they have more cheating/ntr preferences to begin with.
You'll see this kind of conversation play out many times in in nts game threads - someone will ridicule others making them sound nitpicky like "bro the couple shouldnt have to check in with each other everytime they fuck other people" - but then a couple pages back or forward you'll see the same poster suggesting "maybe the LI should sneak off behind her husbands back a few times".
I'm not saying Kudoko here is at all doing that - just trying to explain why I suspect a large number of other people in threads like this are rightfully suspicious and can come off as 'purist' when it comes to the genre. For sure, some are totally inflexible and want events 'only this specific way!' , but I'd bet the majority are more evenhanded, they just dislike the ntr fandom creep as I do.
