I think its less the amount of courage and more the fear of getting a C&D letter from the IP holders.
If it was a parody or satire, as long as it's free, that's fine. But its when a developer tries to make money, that's where the problem lies.
If I had a nickel for every time I saw nintendo has affected a pokemon porn game, I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot but it's weird that it happened twice.
It's why you gotta do it through an anonymous developer name. They can't do shit if they don't know who's actually making the game, and they're not going to go after a whole website.
Nintendo has shut down a lot. Most people give up altogether or work on something else rather than reboot their game. They'll seem to come after content that's already been around, but not until there's significant traction/development and money to be made for extra asshole points. Like if you know Derpixon, there used to be a couple short Pokemon flashes but only those flashes have now been scrubbed.
The girls were cosplaying Pokemon. Pretty much the same as it is now but the costumes were Pokemon.
