I don't know if you have already, but I suggest you look at the current build that was just released.
In the new theatre area, there are posters inside of Phoebe in a bunny costume and Eva as little red riding hood.
So, the devs could be possibly teasing that they're going to be adding the old characters with new costumes, or maybe they're just internal references. Considering they've added a new version of Mara, the former is definitely possible.

Wow, just wow. I expected the same game with different costumes and was blown away instead with how much work and detail went into the beginning intro
No where near that. Than what do I need to do now because I can't find any more cosplayers and I am level 10 so battles are now getting boring. I can not open the door with the card key as it says next release.

So, in order to unlock the other figurines, you need to defeat the golden echoes (the cosplayers). To spawn a golden echo, you need to continuously defeat the enemies echoes in that room, which include dark purple (lesser echo), bright purple (normal echo) and blue (greater echo), until the golden echo spawns. Some rooms may not adhere to the colour-coding, and the different colours may actually be echoes of completely different cosplayers, but in general each room follows the rule of dark purple (weakest in room) -> bright purple (middle) -> blue (strongest normal) -> gold (strongest rare).
The combo number of defeated enemies in a room is on a singular room basis, so leaving the room will not reset your count for that individual room, but at the same time it will not count towards the other rooms. (i.e. if you defeat 30 echoes in a row in the first forest room, it will only total to 30 in that room, no others) However, if you are defeated, or the golden echo spawns in that room, the count for that room will be reset. The combo requirement for each room varies. Some of the early rooms only require a combo around 30-40 for the golden echo to spawn. For each of the two new rooms added for this version, I needed a combo of ~150 until the golden echo spawned, so it took around an hour of grinding.
When the golden echo shows up, there is a heartbeat noise that accompanies them. Once defeated, you'll get that cosplayer's figurine and that character's scenes from the old version of the game.

Thanks yeah I grinded to level 12 but in same room. Grinding defense is damn expensive I got it to 10 now.. Just kept using suckers and defending repeatedly.. too much grind for defense a boss special attack only gave me 15 defense exp. My attacks are both at 11 now. I'll start grinding each room than for that Gold.

Damn, I haven't played this game since I first saw the early version on Newgrounds a couple of years ago. It changed so much I thought I was playing the wrong game. Might want to update the Original Posts as nothing looks like that anymore. Fantastic game.
