Is it really that meh!?

Not outright bad but yeah, pretty lackluster. Even less stuff than with the Harpy and just like for all of the latest pregnancy content the relationship pretty much goes 'you meet them -> you fuck them -> you're a family now.' And it's not like the pregnancy kink itself gets particularly tickled either, since art notwithstanding differences in the sex scenes are always minimal.

Like, come on. In the Wayfort we can neither sleep with the Harpy nor with the hibernating snake, and none of those kids running around even interact with eachother (same for their parents). And on that vein, Vatia specifically already got a threesome with Brienne so why not just make it a pregnant threesome and make all this shit worth.

Honestly, not even the biggest fan of Aileh but revisiting her content after all this made me realize how much there is to her prior to the pregnancy, and how much there is during and after. Feels like all they're doing now is speedrunning character arcs and running to the finishline trying to copy what made her good, completely missing that cute kids by themselves aren't gonna carry no relationship build-up and no dedicated pregnancy sex scenes either.

We basically only just met and, dependent if Brint is in the party, we're not even the only person who has plowed her as you can't do her without him getting it in. So she then shows up at the wayfort and is all about starting a family and being an item while neither of you have properly gone through any manner of romance.

The interaction with your budding family is pretty alright, though. Clearly the highlight. For most NPC's, even if it's minimal, interactions with the firstborn is endearing. But the character herself needed a bit more buildup.

It almost makes me wonder if devs planned some kind of redemption arc for Kas and don't want her to do actually evil things on screen to make this redemption easier for players to accept.

Its pretty clear thats the intention if you want it to play it that way.

From the very start you have two paths, refered to by the Devs as the Rival and Romance paths. This is most obvious in the Winter city dungeon where it completely changes the outcome of events (in a way I HIGHLY suspect they will regret latter), but can be seen elsewhere in the game.

Romance Path: Aileh comes through and screams at Kas to close the portal. She fails to do so and an 'Abyssal Thing' comes out of the portal and corrupts 'Dragon daughters' except Aileh. You then proceed to fight the Abyssal thing and get your arse handed to you until the gods intervene to defeat the Abyssal thing. You then mop up the remaining corrupted dragon daughters.

Rivalry path: The Abyssal thing doesn't exist AT ALL, and the portal is instead destroyed by a bolt of Lightning (implying divine intervention), limiting how many Dragon Daughters get through. Regardless however, Kas orders the Dragon daughters to kidnap Elven nobility and then leaves.

We know that Kas overall goal (at least in the Romance path) is to have a child of their own, which will require their soul to be restored (you need to build the Temple to Mallach to find this out). Its possible that the Rival path is the same... but the fact she has an army and victims in that path means she might have other goals or motivations.

The problem of course is that the devs naturally don't want to write 2 entirely different games, YET these two differently described Kas's would treat the world differently. So they have collectively ignored the issue, which has the consequence of making it appear like the Romance Kas is the real path.

From my perspective I would not be surprised if long term Kas is dropped as a victim and Tollus becomes the new big bad. Whether the Devs will even remember Kas kidnapped a bunch of elven nobility and has an army of dragon-daughters when we come to the final dungeon....

Lets say I have doubts.
(Having said that I prefer the romance path from a self corruption perspective, BUT if I was doing the rival path I would be kinda frustrated. Kas as a true villian only really occurs at the start and at the Centaur villiage... maybe the Hornets if you stretch it... after that its really had to pinpoint a truly evil thing she has done.)

I think you're overstating the escalation bit. Imo, shes much better about it than a lot of other characters. Cause the requirements for her to ask you are pretty significant.

You need to meet her at Frostwood, actively engage with her content(which not only involves letting her literally sleep with you if I recall correctly, but you also have to go through her dialogue and get to know her). You then have to own wayfort, which prompts her to visit you on occasion. And then you have to get to Khorminos proper. And the time it would take from first meeting her to then is a lot.

And finally, you have to let her move in and after she sleeps for 8 days, you have to go through her dialogue again to which she tells you her reason for wanting kids(which is to liver a fuller life and you HAVE before you even have the ability to knock her up). And the reason she asks you to father her kid is cause she likes you and why wouldn't she, you would have to have interacted with her quite a bit, which involves getting to know her and be very kind and accommodating to her too.

I feel you're overstating the steps as well:
The hard requirements are actually minimal in regards to interacting with her.

1. Have sex (somebody mentioned that just cuddling works but that'd be whacky) with a small aside that she's barely sentient due to fatigue.
2. Make a camp.
3. Talk to her about magic. (none of the other conversations matter, nor are most of them even remotely intimate)

Do a bunch of stuff unrelated to her (WC/KM). KM being a requirement for a bunch of things in general, like helping out the valks. After which after banging maybe a single time~

This is what she says on the first time at your door moving in.

That's a bit of an escalation there with no buildup. Most of the other pregnancies are natural results of fornicating. So while the pregnancy is 'sudden' (Hretha, Infrith, Atani (though you have to talk to her a lot to even start that), Brienne) it's a bit more 'natural'. Brienne doesn't intend to get pregnant. That's just what's going to happen when you go for an all day fuck session.

A planned parenthood is a beast all it's own. Like, damn, you don't even know each other all that well. Contrast Livrea

1. Donate to her
2. Take her out on a date
3. Bang her.
   A lot
4. Have the talk
5. Date her
6. Profess your love to her
7. Explore multiple conversation options as well as talking about the future
8. Finally pop the question about children

You could compare it against Zhara but her (and harpies in general) are equivalent to Orcs in general in that they just want to rob and fuck. And showing kindness/mutual attraction to Zhara when she nightcrawls is how you open up the rest of her content.

I can bang out the rest while I'm at it:

• Zo has you rescue her, doing a lotof her training, improving her house, and later building a crib
• Aileh needs no emphasis.
• Kiyoko is a happy incident that you both accept and love
• Cat Harem has an entire quest, needs to be banged, and then further needs to be convinced
• Rindo has to be courted, banged, made your concubine, and finally deliberately impregnated
• Lyric has perpetual hero worshipping one-itis for saving her life and would birth a kingdoms worth of kobolds with you if you wanted
• Rags requires an entire song and dance of dating her
• Arona (in addition to doing her entire quest to begin with) sees you knocking up her entire tribe and wants to have your children.

Then there's the least explored but still 'natural' (but is where I'd put Vatia if we're honest,

• Eubicha gets off on mare play
• Gwyn is...
• The hellhound is all about pregnancy regardless of who she's fucking but eventually gets champion one-itis (until Agni)
• Vari just needs you to engage in a few romps of casual mindblowing sex
• Nihara just needs sex and a quest and is extra casual about the entire thing

I could use other porn game logic and state that Vatia draws a connection between sex and love. But we know that's not generally how things work here. Also Brint, I guess.
But in comparison to the greater half of pregnancies, especially given this is a deliberate decision, that's a bit much.
Even Salwah requires you create a stable environment before you engage in the most impersonal procedure of procreation possible and you additionally have to voice the question yourself.

So when I say it's escalating a bit quick. That's what I mean. It's in comparison to the others, which makes it as standoffish as it is.

Maybe i'm just over the game but like i said, no proper build-up + the knowledge that not any of those characters will be getting any updates in the near future (and that it might indeed be it for them) make it hard to enjoy the crumbs.

Also, the porn. Give this wholesome family content utterly devoid of anything sexual to Brienne or Arona and i'm more than fine with it. I care about the characters and it'd just be some nice natural progression of their arcs. Would even work for someone like Clem because at least her content is pretty wholesome as is, but give it to some rando with two scenes who'd only every existed for the porn and don't even add to it and it's a whatev for me.

I've been interacting with Vatia for years (deliberately looking for her and when it was available, creating a camp in the Frostwood so she could appear), so it's kinda hard for me to sympathize with the notion that her moving in and getting pregnant was too fast paced. Also Brint never touched her in my playthrough, so that's not a factor either.

Okay thats fair. I was trying to make sure it wasn't just me seeing stuff that wasn't there, but every time we meet him we get in some fairly nasty situations, see some fairly evil stuff, and have to engage in fights where sexual prowess doesn't work.

It would be nice however if the game made you being evil actually a legitimate choice since... you know... the devs want you to romance a demon. Even the minor bits of corruption in game that exist, the correct choice is ALWAYS to remove Kas' influence. Doing otherwise locks you out of content.

Its like, "I love a demoness and enjoy her corruptions and actions as it removes the morals that inhibit the only thing stopping this sex happy culture from just constantly fucking.... and I am corrupt as fuck... but I will also undo everything Kas has done to this world."

It is worth noting that many organisms don't mate for life at all. From a purely scientific point of view, just because a race evolves to be sapient, doesn't mean they will start falling in love and engaging in long term romances.

The Veparii race in the world has not been explored much at all, but the codex suggests they are entirely solitary, and their attachment to their partner and children is....limited to say the least.

As in giving birth while in the middle of hibernation limited.

The are only 2 reasons we should expect romance from a race like this is

The first is a throwaway line, " Adult female Veparii are generally very choosy about their partners owing to the race's territorial nature, and fights for the right to mate one — between the males and the female — are common. "

Which personally I don't think means romance in this context.

Finally there is the claim that the mother and father stay together to raise the child before going their separate ways as the child is not born self reliant.... which while a fun claim makes zero sense given the rest of codex. How can a child that isn't self reliant hope to survive being born while their parents hibernate. And why does a mostly solitary species suddenly make families for at least half a decade.

Based on the Codex EXCLUDING the society bit, Children to me is something they do because biology, with no romantic attachment involved in the process.

On that note, I’m thinking of trying to submit some more stuff in the near future, and, since character customization is of some importance to me, I’d like a refresher on potential mods I might not be aware of—I remember how I didn’t know about the boreal elf mod’s icy pussy before hearing about it here, for one.

I don’t know how relevant skin colour usually is? Though that does remind me I should keep track of fur and scales and the like.
