Damn, what a ride. On a serious note, I do kind of hope that the subscription bleed means these projects will finally finish. Quicker they're done with this, the quicker people can figure out ways to make them better... and hopefully not make it easier for Fen and Co to just spawn a sequel off people's work again.
As someone who's very much learning to be a not-terrible manager on the fly and dealing with young technical staff who report to me (and I actively hate this job, which is why I'm looking to get out into a non-management technical role anywhere else) ... god I fucking hate the way everyone associated with the Fen-Den talk about their former colleagues. It's not even funny or cathartic, it's just plain nasty.
Pausing to stick one more knife into someone on your way to showing them the door doesn't make you a cool badass TRUTH TELLING artiste, it just tells me you love the moment where you have the most power to set the narrative and they have the least: which is naturally why you try and hurt them one last time.
It really just showcase shit culture, to be honest. I can't speak from experience but the signs aren't particularly great. That's why having a proper lead would be good. Alas, they're stuck with that muppet.
I still call their claim of William's writing "not passing standards" bullshit. Something happened behind the scenes that we will probably never know and can only speculate. They're already implementing half-assed content in both CoC2 and TiTS but suddenly when William does it they all of a sudden know what Quality Assurance means?
Speaking as someone who just recruited Agni on their save, I have a suspicion this Quality Assurance bit's a bit all over the place. You'd think someone would at least put more stuff on her just due to being a damn companion. The Fucking Pink Monster of Airborne DST's behemothic content looks even bigger in comparison when Agni shows up.
My honest guess is that it's because, 1:William's stuff was actually far too popular for their liking, especially since people kept mentioning it even in the discord and 2: It's also because William (sounds like he wasn't the only one who did so before leaving as well) actually retorted to their bs instead of just shutting up and taking it.
Also unsurprisingly Savin unlike his delusion, is not some golden goose for the writing, the actual good lore came from Fen and the good, interesting writing came from some of the other writers.
Given I've been playing it, I now think Savin
sometimes hits on a good nail. Unfortunately, most of those nails are spent on Cait and his track record isn't all that amazing with her either.
Truth be told, I feel there was a way to channel him into producing something actually good but you'd need a proper person to check him on his shit with the power to manage things. I genuinely think CoC2
could be salvaged but I doubt it would be with this crew. I'm even more certain it won't be salvaged with Savin playing manager as well.
Still, I'm surviving through this playthrough so far. Got Agni back, picked up Cait's bumbling dad, stumbled upon Quintillus for the eleventh time so far and have ignored it constantly, fixing the Wayfort now. Probably gonna go hit the Kitsune Tree to meet up with
Hisui Senko Kohaku, even if it means going through the Tobs Zone. Hopefully it won't try to get Kiyoko off the orb as well.
Additionally...
That's the weird cow priestess from the south.
