I may have been a bit cheeky in my post, but from what I understand of history, Imperial Japan was a militaristic, xenophobic and expansionist state that regarded foreigners as little more than vermin and thought nothing of committing genocide against them for that reason. So maybe the kitsune aren't that bad yet, but I'm sure they'll get there if given time.

Pretty sure every nation, once they reach a certain level of power tend to get their head up their ass and are not above committing anything to "lesser" nations.
I shouldn't have to state the actions of the current superpowers and the millions of civilians they have murdered outright or slowly in their endless pursuit of profit and power.
Culture will determine how long they will continue before the civilians of the superpower have had their fill of innocent blood. So to some extent, certain nations are less "evil".

The way the kitsune as a whole are handled is pretty bad imo. The way I see it, they are essentially anime imperial japan. So given the opportunity they will not be above being as bad if not worse than the demons.
Which begs the question, why isn't there a templar on a crusade against all evil route yet.

Hell, they practically are demons. They want to steal people's souls, and according to at least one ending, you just have to lose your soul, not necessarily have it turn to Lethicite, to become a demon. They're fucking monsters.

Which is why I think he'd be more favorable to allowing the MC to take as many concubines as he likes -- she even if someone manages to get Tobs' permission to write up romance for the male NPCs under his control for a female MC.

It's all a game to Keros anyways and for the most part I think he likes the MC the most out of anyone there. The MC is a lot less stuffy and more willing to actually play along rather than just let happen.

It's like Anime Imperial Japan, but at pre-Meiji Restoration levels of tech, and lore states they're essentially refugees not colonisers, but they have that imperial mindset, which essentially makes them parasites.

I would just like to say, as someone whose major specialises in East Asian affairs, the historical anachronism being tossed around really hurts my soul.

I agree with pretty much everything that has been said so far, but this game still keeps giving. I found disturbing that for people of which culture is everything about smile and daggers, they do not show their ability to understand what is at stake when it comes to the MC behaviour.
I can get behind the fact you despise someone just because they had the bad luck of being born in the wrong household; it basically boils down to being a thundercunt. However, not trying to actively manipulate them in order to keep them under your sway or avoid a future betrayal, that kind of behaviour shows that you are not fit to be a leader.
Evergreen is still lurking in the shadow, the MC can meddle with Kasyrra, recruit tainted / demonic acquaintance, become quite corrupted.

In conclusion, I forgot to say, fuck the gods, they are all despicable cunts.

This is essentially the crux of why the writing in CoC2 just baffles me.

Why go through all this effort to establish the Godswar and hundreds of thousands of words of lore detailing how the demons once invaded the lands and tore it asunder, how the gods and the people managed to drive them off, only to then reflect almost none of it in the actual NPCs? Oh sure, the cultists are a threat but I guess the long-lived matriarch of the kitsune just didn't get the memo from the previous demonic invasion, I suppose.

A quick warning to people wanting to try the game:
1. The game is VERY futa-focused. I like it personally, but this may not be your cup of tea.
2. The "corruption" present in the title of the game, as well as in the prequel, is practically non-existant, since 90% of all NPCs are sex starved nymphomaniacs right from the beginning. Which brings me to...
3. What more "tabboo" content could be unlocked via corruption, like incest or bestiality, won't be, since the developers obviously want their never-ending stream of Patreon dollars, whilst others, like cheating or cuckolding, will never be included even as a "corruption" option, since either the developers or the paypigs (accounts on this vary) are allergic to it.

Can we get this pinned until the game changed otherwise?

But you see, they're just like Imperial Japan: so madly racist and self-assured that they won't even entertain the idea that a "barbarian" can be better than them at anything, even when the evidence is right in front of their face. Nothing short of destroying them utterly will get them to understand that they're not top dog. Tobs actually kinda nailed it.

Going to add my 2 cents too. Feudal Japan seems more appropriate for a few reasons I'm not sure if RenH specified. If I know my history correctly, Feudal did make contact with the West / US prior to becoming Imperial Japan. Given the tech in CoC2 we're for sure looking at 15th century or more or less Medeival era. Japan was for sure in the Feudal era and we know from real history the UK was trading with Asia around the 16th century which more or less lines up with the Kitsune viewing the CoC2 world as 'northerner barbarians'.

Also bear in mind too that the Kitsune village is based a lot off of what Granny experienced / taught so in all likelihood she's more or less thrown her views on her children / grandchildren. Evergreen has no issues with people less they're dicks in her POV so the 'northerner barbarian' threat is more of PTSD / Trauma surfacing as Racist / Xenophobia. In all reality she hasn't really contacted the main homeland in ages IRC.

Dunno if it’s a genuine question, I’ll take the bait.
I am convinced that releasing drips of content is at the core of Savin commercial strategy. Look at the changelog: the plot hasn’t advanced one bit in the last 10 months, KM outskirts are next to barren.
It’s just a smut novel at that point.

You think this game is futa-focused? Try TiTS lmao: you get the option to turn practically every single one of the 10 or so female companions into a futa (with seemingly more each patch), and a lot more of the story-relevant characters are futa. I actually think CoC2 is quite tame in that department; personally, I’m not into futa, and I find I can mostly avoid that content here, whereas in TiTS it’s just everywhere.
