If we're using media to compare this whole situation to, I'd say it's more akin to Avatar the Last Airbender than anything else. The original was lightning in a bottle and no matter how much the creators try and replicate or improve upon it, it always winds up being worse in a lot of ways.

Comparing DS2 to this game is a disservice to DS2. I'm sure the guys working on it had more than 2 brain cells left considering you can still have fun with that game. Can't really say the same for CoC2 when someone like TOBS is on the team.

Someone said this before so this isn't my idea, but I largely agree with the sentiment that CoC2 is more like the Star Wars Sequel trilogy. With TiTs being the Star Wars prequels, and CoC being the original trilogy. CoC1 is pretty solid despite its noticeable flaws. I fell like at some point if it isn't already people will start to consider it a classic porn game. TiTs while I personally can't enjoy it (due to every girl having a dick) its alright. Haven't played TiTs in at least a year but when I was playing it the game seemed to be going in a consistent direction, just not one I would enjoy.

And CoC2 just seems to wipe it ass with the originals canon. It introduces ideas that go against the original lore, and then immediately contradicts/back tracks on those new ideas. It has a bigger budget than any of the previous content and more good will from the fans. It even draws in new fans who then go back and try the game that started it all. After playing the original these new fans start to realize how much wasted potential is in the sequel. But, despite its flaw fans can see the potential for a good game, maybe even one that surpasses the original. The fans voice that opinion and then get called assholes or idiots by the producers. As the producers just think the fans are just hating for the sake of hating. Now while I'm only going off the screenshots people use to meme on Savin, they have strong Kathleen Kennedy vibes to me.

Look, I am sure those games were pretty big, but I really doubt the whole idea of a souls-like game didn't really exist until it was polished to a very good state in Dark Souls. That's why I added "REALLY". Cause yeah, I know about those games, but those are not the groundbreaking games in the genre.

Yeah, that sounds about right. Avatar is a pretty good comparison, thought I've seen plenty of people liking Korra (I am not one of them). And I probably dislike DS2 more than Korra, but that depends from a person to person. I'd rather play CoC2 than DS2, but that might be because I've picked up a freaking bow instead of the Kyoko Orb and the last time I interacted with Kitsunes was me doing their freaking boss rush dungeon and then rage quitting without saving... not because of combat, but because for 7 difficult battles in a row that were tedious, I expected a good sex scene. There was none.

Its weird to me what characters are considered "feature complete" or "done" basically, supposedly before the games even halfway done. Gwyn's a easy example but there's plenty others. As has been mentioned and gets more and more prevalent, new npcs continuously get added with ssdd content and about as much depth as literally anyones first attempt at erotica instead of making characters people are supposed to get attached to for smut, personality or both. *Supposedly* party members are supposed to continuously get more content, but the amount of characters you're supposed to get invested in that dead end is really weird and worrying.

Like again, for gwyn, shes one of the money sinks in the game. You can farm on story mode spamming right click with a double money accessory, and in a few irl days or so you might finally have put in the 512k for the nursery which eclipses every other purchase, including building a entire temple you're supposed to eventually earn money from and building and upgrading your fortress. She takes care of all of your children and will probably be one of the npcs you most consistently visit to keep tabs or stats on them. Her final interaction is after the gweyr quest finale she has a breakdown whenever you mention gweyr, has around 3 smut scenes total, and is considered done.

They keep adding content that's supposed to cause emotional reactions but don't focus on fewer, fully realized characters to make you actually feel something from it, and theyll announce stuff like "look at this cool thing coming out" that gets cancelled or sucker punched like Berwyn "being taken over by another writer and getting a ton of content" then being removed from combat permanently with no prior notice. It stopped being "wow I can't wait for (character) to get more content" and turned into "oh well a crazy horse expansion is ok I guess".

They can't hide behind party members being exceptions and the game being similar to a dragon age-type where npcs are cardboard but party members have tons of content either; for gods sake over half the party has been abandoned, and when they finally get someone to work on them we'll get another alypia, or takahiro getting a content update like 3 years after anybody would care. Surely even the cuck content suffers at some point, with no character development, who cares about cuckfort or swinging scenes? It's supposed to be a fetish about your partner banging someone else saying "uwu gang member chan's better than you loyal husband with job" but it's become more and more like someone on the street banging someone else. You've got characters like kinu getting solo content the entire game based on a mediocre niche different game with no smut content while many others are just proofs of concept. I guess it's sunk cost fallacy but if I'd been paying 30+ a month for their Patreon I'd be *pissed* and not talking about how great they are and attacking anyone who says otherwise.

We need more Vari content. I think it would be pretty cool for Vari's camp to move to the fortress. I think this could easily implemented into by the devs into the game by using the fact of the already abundant amount of demons and the kistsune's as a viable reason as to why Vari and her fellow villagers could come to the Champion for aid and asked to be moved into the Fort giving the fort some more things to do, since lets be honest the Fort isn't very...fun.

This made me think of how funny would it be if CoC had the same timeline as Soulsborne games and FromSoft
DS1/CoC - A game that REALLY started the genre and is beloved by many.
Bloodborne/TiTS - A game created by the original author after the first game was done and is a different series.
DS2/CoC2 - Sequel created by the new team most of which didn't understand what made the original good. Has a few good elements and mechanics, but is a downgrade in all things that matter.

So, does this that after CoC2, Fenoxo will return and will make CoC3, which will basically be a much improved CoC1 with a lot of fanservice for the fans of the original? A man can dream, I guess.

Hell, if Ryn didn't have some positives and if most of her negatives didn't come from untreated schizophrenia (aka too many takes from too many writers) she'd already straight up be Urta 2.0, what with their matching personalities, ultra-libido and gender dysphoria (dumb in CoC1 still dumb in CoC2, that last one).

Then i look at Anno over in TiTs being straight up Cait and i can't help but praise Savin's inventiveness over the years. Shit's like ME3's endings, all that changes is the color... or furry packaging i guess

Now, now, give Savin a little credit. He doesn't just stick to fur he also created Helia in CoC1 who is just a straight up copy of Monster Girl Encyclopedia's Salamander, just with a different colour bow, and with that different colour bow came a plethora of '''new ideas''' such as:
-Predominantly anal scenes.
-Fucking everything that moves.
-Saying that she super loves you in the same breath that she talks about how much she loves every cock she's taken.
-Quest that involves saving her sister and father.

In terms of actual content that isn't in CoC2 already via Cait we have:
-Getting jealous of the player for having the superior tiger-shark Izumi as a lover.
-Having a kid where 90% of her rearing scenes you have the option of letting her become like her constantly drinking mother (including the sluttery) or the opposite.
-Getting so incredibly irate at the playerbase asking when the promised incest scenes with your daughter would be that he cancelled them and in FoE made her an NPC that calls her parents groomers that just wanted to fuck her.

I would have preferred them to be one character to skip the upcoming retardation with heir quest since no one would give a shit about a Caitryn preg no matter how much Savin bitched. Plus I can see half the writers not bothering to write for Caitryn if parser hell would stop you every time.

Edit: I forgot to mention the other reason. Cait and Ryn effectively fill the same role of creator OC constantly upstaging the MC in the quest and being a writer's pet. Nothing would change if Ryn and Cait were the same characters cept Caitryn would probably have 2 sisters instead of one and probably less Mallach.
