Gweyr and sanders I get because they're the "old guard", and they've both had combat experience. Sanders the deus vult type while gweyrs the "they can't cast magic if their throats cut" type. They're both friends, allies and teachers and youre supposed to respect them and not want to fight them anyway. Like older legendary boxers that may have once growled and bit a man's ear off, that sort of thing. But besides those, they seem to want to basically do like a, I dunno, kingdom hearts is the easiest example I can think of gameplay wise, or devil may cry maybe where gameplay wise you can be the baddest mf'er on the continent, but a cutscenes happens and then a kobold beats your ass and cucks you. Eventually, when the level cap increases, you could literally be a master magician that's a something tailed kitsune, champion of a Lovecraft thingy, with legendary artifacts, but leofric will whimper and knock you out with his dong. Most optimistic person in this thread.
Really I don't even know why devs use, "Well champ isn't actually that strong." logic. OK even if the champ isn't strong, they have 2 8 foot tall amazons that are ride or die and a ranger/knight that is the leader of a kingdom that wants to marry you. And those are just the companions that would do basically whatever you ask of them. It doesn't even matter if the champ is strong when the people they are fucking with are strong.
Also if Gweyr and Sanders are actually that strong, why are they not the protagonists? You could maybe make an excuse for Gweyr since she's a fucking psycho, but you really mean to tell me Sanders is that much more powerful than my character and all he does is sit in a chapel while the world gets corrupted? My fucking ass.
Unless the character is a God or Kas, nothing has been done to show other characters being more powerful than PC. Why are they so infatuated with their own characters?
If they want their ocs they need to give them flaws and/or have them be doing stuff. Like lotr (by no means this is lotr) but if you have random op things around they are doing stuff, fighting in the west or the east, protecting the weak or holding back a side while you're cutting through the middle etc. As it stands they all look like they're just doing duke nukem quotes while in a bar and that creates the issue.
