Imo they're completely shifting her niche, it's started slowly but is starting to go a bit faster. Niches like how brienne is champ focused vanilla with kink. To me etheryn was basically the broken bird trope, a abuse victim the player can support and heal (or keep broken down), starts off needing help but eventually starts helping back, and by that point is basically one of the pcs ride-or-dies, end game vanilla marriage option. Problems start there though. think there's a TiTs character with a similar problem, think it was a blind character you bond with a lot and help restore sight of then immediately wants to be banged by the metaphorical football team? Or like amily from coc. anyway, she requires a lot of help to open up, appears mostly PC sexual but then has no/minimal problem with boinking others. Heir plot is an issue. They could easily have used any number of plot devices resulting in either a. Etheryn keeping her dong but gaining taco or b. Lumia "hey lmaoo you just did me a kinda big solid let me help you out!"

Using brienne again it'd be like if they chose to have a plot where she has been cursed to love you since mad cow, and either starts going mad or dying unless she bangs someone else to break it, then afterward ya know she likes you ok but basically becomes cait. Alypia seems nice, and for the most part does her well (besides the script reading like you're locked in bimbo personality), but it really comes off like she's molding etheryn by her headcanon and oc, not by etheryns original design. Alypia wants to be a voluptuous woman getting pounded and impregnated by etheryn or watching etheryn impregnate others then her, etheryns feminine aspect and loving a male PC just the same and wanting to identify as a female is pushed more and more away, to fit alypias, or maybe not just them, but the teams desires.

Who gives a shit about Etheryn. Do what I do, only interract with that freak to finish the quests that require him to be present, otherwise ignore him. Realize that the writers hate the majority of players for not liking that they constantly try to force their fetish down their throat, and certain players had the gall to question their masterpiece.

I think having only those two outcomes makes a lot more sense in a game entirely centered on the relationship between the two characters. Often the 'broken bird' has literally nothing going on in their life besides the player character but Ryn doesn't really fit this, the world is much bigger than just her relationship with the champ and as such it makes sense for there to be outcomes besides complete dedication to the player character. I do think it's contrived at best for low confidence Ryn to refuse to change her body to suit the player character, but if her writer says that's how it is then at the end of the day they know the character best.
