I feel like NPCs overshadowing the MC and not really being corruptible/ influencable outside of sub/dom dynamics is because of them being essentially commision pieces placed into the game, with their original creators having the final say in what can and cannot be done to them. And a loooooooot of them are against any kind of meddling with their concepts or corrupting them

Which is funny because fenoxo claimed, when he first ended coc, that the reason he is ending it is because he made the mistake of being to generous on the license he gave content creators. such anyone who submits an NPC is the sole owner of said NPC and they can't do anything to said NPC without permission from the owner. even though a bunch of such owners disappeared on them.
He claimed that in tits he would fix it such that he would be allowed to do whatever he wants to the characters.

To be fair though, regardless of license, the whales who are literally paying hundreds of dollars to have their precious OC DONUT STEEL fursona added to the game are not going to keep throwing money their way if they make changes without permissions.
Their fursona is a dommy 8 foot tall futa with a 2 foot long penis who ONLY puts the penis in the MC while being domme and nothing else. No you can't corrupt their fursona, no you cannot turn things around, no you cannot dedick them. That will upset the donor who paid for their fursona to be added to the game or the writer for whom it is a self insert.

If you put the condition that you can't make the OCs super special and invincible then there wouldn't have any takers for any of these games. No one would ever volunteer to write. Maybe Williams would bite. Then they would still bully him and keep him from releasing the stuff he really likes, despite being the only writer.

They did that with Berwyn and despite getting shit on Savin unironically does deserve the ability to utilize characters in his game after said creator leaves.
It's a game at the end of the day and more importantly a product being sold to people so the devs do need the ability to actually make a cohesive and fun experience for the user.
Savin and co already had enough trouble not pissing off everyone without having their hands tied behind their back.

Defending Savin is making me sick.

Even if they had that type of arrangement. I imagine if you stick a couple extra funbucks up their asses. Or tickle their balls while whispering sweet nothings in their ear. You could either protect or at least soften whatever depraved fuckery they would inflict on your characters. Then again, isn't a lot of the asshattery in this game. Involving the OCs of the writers themselves? Them having control over everyone else's virgin asses. Doesn't hamper them from cucking you personally.

Good news! just heard from jstar in their forum that the lupine dungeon will be ready around december. finally we have date to when it comes out. i sure me and the five other people are looking forward to it.

If they get too aggressive in taking over a character they would get less submissions. Most people are not exactly as open as Kalysea's commissioner where they gave their fiat for anyone to make and commission a sub route for Kaly. If the CoC2 policy becomes "mandatory sub routes for dominant characters and vice versa" people won't like it.

Besides you have Tobs on the fucking writing team. Are you really willing to take a gamble on having your OC being on the receiving end of that psychic vampire? Not only is your OC getting trapped in purple prose hell, there's a chance your OC's "sub route" will be 99% rape scenes.

To a degree i can understand that if someone commissioned a character they would want to approve any further content for that character. For example let's say i commissioned a childhood friend character in the minotaur city, all the content is pretty vanilla pretty much a PC exclusive character but then a couple of months later I play the game and I run into a scene where this character i commissioned is being passed around by a bunch of minotaur guards, I probably wouldn't be to happy about that.

To a degree i can understand that if someone commissioned a character they would want to approve any further content for that character. For example let's say i commissioned a childhood friend character in the minotaur city, all the content is pretty vanilla pretty much a PC exclusive character but then a couple of months later I play the game and I run into a scene where this character i commissioned is being passed around by a bunch of minotaur guards, I probably wouldn't be to happy about that.

Having this for side characters who exist solely for sex seems fine, but if you plan to include any character that exists to be a major part of the story or location there really should be a clause where they are allowed to continue to add content with said character outside of x scenes/fetishes you choose to be off limits.
I do believe however you shouldn't include major characters that lack any flexibility or prevent the player to actually interact with them.

Ultimately the thing is the second you put this up for sale on steam this isn't some commissioned project or whatever, but a product for the buyer.
If you wanted this to be for commissioners forever you should have kept it behind Patreon.

Man I don't even have an OC. But reading their disclaimer on submissions in the forum. Even my stomach started to turn at the idea of allowing them the keys to something I made. Just sinking further as I read on. I mean yea, the MC energy having ass side characters are annoying as a player. And they could be protected without being so over the top. But after that brief midartist crisis I just went through... I get it. At least to a degree.

I'd rather my character be a superhero then a multiuse onahole.

Kalysea is the best commissioned OC out the lot in all these games. A NPC tells you 'yo, this person is looking for you', then the OC comes up and greets your chara like a normal fucking person before asking if you're interested in helping them, and you can say yes or no. It isn't instantly locking you in or out at that point. No quest popping up and sticking in your log book forever at this point either. If you don't want to bother just never meet them.

Extra points for not making the quest auto trigger if you walk past their square too, you gotta click a button while standing on that spot. Very nice stuff. Positively saintly compared to the rest.

There haven't really been many characters commission in CoC2 at all I don't think. Can't remember where, but pretty sure a staffie said the number was less than 5%.

TiTS has more commissioned characters than CoC2. Mostly because Fen had them as rewards for supporters in the form of Fated Names. And even then it's not on the same level as a commissioned NPC. I think Doc Badger counts as one too, and we know what happened when she was implemented

EDIT: Looking back I can't really count the Fated Names on the same level as something like Kalysea. These Fated Names were supposed to be for personal use, so not for regular users.

and for tits I recall doctor badger, a dominant futa. whose initial intro was that badger kidnaps, rapes you, and transforms you against your will. And there was literally nothing you could do. They spent weeks banning everyone who complained from their forums, before realizing they are going to end up banning most of their customers, so they finally relented and changed it so you can opt out OR turn things around.

I know there are way more. I just don't recall exactly who off the top of my head.

You are remembering incorrectly, the problem with Badger was when she asked if you were a hero there was no warning about what would happen and they would bimbofy you.
You could always say no or read her dialogue where it was pretty obvious you don't want to say you are a hero.
All they did was add in a warning.

After nit having played for awhile, I erased all my saves to start from scratch, and I'm not back to KM yet.

That being said, I suspected it'd be pretty short. Longer stuff usually gets talked about a lot more for longer on the Discord, and Wsan has only mentioned this briefly like twice.
