I never really understood the hate for Cait, but I also don't really like Cait either.

My feelings on Cait is she's just a pornstar. Free Jerk off material that I don't have to think about later.

Where as Brienne is the extra freaky Girlfriend. You like her, but its because you got to actually know her. All the freaky sex is just the cherry on top.

If Cait had an actual personality beyond sex she could be fun. Personally I'd turn her into the knowledgeable older sister type. Even in the flavour text with other companions it made clear that Cait helps the others companions when they are emotionally down, or having some type of issue. I think you could easily turn into a Rangiku (from Bleach) type character as Rangiku is flirty but she's the most emotional avaible character and takes care of others like Orihime when she's feeling jealous of Rukia. It would do a lot to endear the player to Cait, as we know Cait has her own struggles, since her sister is missing.

Still going through it, but atm, it feels like a character assassination. The character feels as if he has nothing to do with the Berwyn of old.

XD I mean pretty sure that the general consensus is that kinu sucks right? Personally I just went nope to all the kitsune content as they just have an ocean of filler text attached to them.

Maybe this a me issue but I play/read both this game and TITS to get of not because I want an essay of every characters life and backstory, you need some ofcourse I am not saying remove everything but a lot of the later additions in both games have so MUCH fluff. Even some empty tiles have a shitload of text describing just the one tile like who cares honestly.

I honestly disagree with their not being enough content to flesh Berwyn out. In most of Berry's interactions with the Champion and much of his flavor text with other companions its established that he loves magic,reading and wants to go on adventures (which is why him just retiring is weird to me). The other thing that is made clear in one of his dialogues is that he becomes frustrated once he realizes that Mathila had been purposely weakening his magic and teaching him improperly. This establishes that Berry is not that strong of mage, which is once again kind of goes against him suddenly being this god tier mage at the end. It also sets up that Mathila had some alternate plan in the works, but well probably never know the direction that story would have taken as the original writer left. The cuddlefuck scene also shows that Berry can be tender with the champion and their sex life isn't purely dom or sub.

In fact I'm pretty sure the writer said Berry's more romantic path is him learning to let his guard down around the champion, as Berry has trust issues from the events with Mathila and his parents, and he would be willing to becoming something different if lead to his partner accepting him. I think this is part of the reason he's okay with Mathila slowly changing him into a girly boy, as he clearly trusted Mathila at the beginning and probably accepted it to make her happy.

Pretty sure it was B who said this as it was them defending Berry getting a gender swap. I also believe he came to this conclusion after talking with the original writer. But take what I'm saying here with a grain of salt as I can't find the quote and don't follow the development closely enough to be sure.

Point I'm trying to make is if given enough room to grow a lot of Berry's arc could have been something really interesting without destroying his established lore. Him being a sincere lover who supports the champion through their struggles or femboy that doms the shit out of the champ could have worked. There is a potential arc for him becoming a god tier mage that surpasses his master. It could have been meaningful if he was given proper attention and time to grow into it. But it feels rather rushed. Which from what I've been reading here about the games development makes sense.

Now don't take this as me dumping on B. Like FetishGirl Pointed out B had to account for multiple variables based off the potential transformations. B put in all this lore and tried to justify Berwyn's character in this quest. Considering what B had to deal with and the fact that he did not really want to write this character to begin with. I'd say he did a good job.

Now what actually does bother me about this game and makes me a little irritated is this game has potential. It honestly remind me of Mass Effect Andromeda or Mass Effect 3. Both have an interesting premise but for one reason or another they feel apart. Now while Mass Effect had a shitty publisher that was constantly micromanaging and got in the way of artist doing their jobs. CoC2 seems to have shitty management team that has no type of structure and randomly introduces new shit with no real type of plan what so ever.

Cait is pretty much a turboslut with a higher body count than the population of the Vatican, so it's pretty hard to develop her personality/story wise without changing her entirely. Yeah stating how your character is feeling in a rpg is a very dumb thing to do if you don't happen to share said feeling it is almost guaranteed to make you feel dissociated.

I always treated Cait like Isabella from DA2. Its just their personality. Sure its not my thing, but to each their own. I don't really care sense I typically play as a white mage, so...Cait is banished to the inn. If you don't want to see her fucking everything you can avoid that content. Her having a lot of content, I always expected that since she is literally the first character you meet.

Also my character fucks everything with the exception of Demons, so who am I to talk.

I guess an additional criticism I'll make (which I'm sure other people have already made) just give people a choice.

Because Isabella in DA2 (to my knowledge) does not get the same hate, and I believe its because if you pursue her romantically in DA2 she goes monogamus for the most part. (She'll try and sleep with Zeveran but you can tell her no and she'll respect your feelings.) But, I would just chalk that up to Isabella having an actual personality and the devs considering that players may feel differently than them. God I love classic Bioware (even though I still consider DA2 6/10 game on its best days.)

Edit: Essentially the problem with Cait could be fixed by simply by giving players and actual say in a rpg game. I sometimes wonder if the devs know what the first two letters in rpg stand for. But, yeah I guess I agree with the criticism some people have made of Cait.

I suppose Femdom-centric is a bit of an overstatement, but the reason I say that it is so is because most of the Monster Girls have a PC-Loss scene but no PC-Win scene. Although the ones that do exist are pretty good though.
