I've been reading the more recent posts in this thread out of a masochistic curiosity, and between the hate for Cait, the new phoenix companion (the game has too many companions as it is, and only 3 of them offer any form of combat benefit, one of which is Cait), and this kitsune shit, it's been a ride. Oh, and the fact that, despite YEARS AGO addressing how fucked the code with CoC was (hence a lot of Fen's reluctance to finish CoC at all), they have learned FUCKING NOTHING. I feel like someone should mod (and adjust for context) the Champion gathering all his companions/waifus/etc into a room and doing this to them:

One of the things that bugs me still (aside harpy matron not having a fight coded, even though she was quite literally the first hostile encounter of the first build.) is the cat harem you rescue from an abusive owner. Putting aside the trauma they all suffered and likely need to work through, it was jarring that not only are they capable fighters worthy of being your companions, but that there is basically no follow-up for them. What about making the trio into companions? What about giving them further development with respect to the shit they need to work through and make the champion symathetic to their recovery? Oh, right. It would mean catgirls that aren't Cait would get meaningful development and the champion would have a group of people that respect and appreciate them. Nope, can't have that shit.

Witch class is the most brain-dead to just spam attack or spells? I know there is easy mode but I prefer having a little bit of grind (even though is a porn text game).

Classes do nothing but give stats and perks, it's powers and equipment you focus on and the braindead attacks I use are usually grease + fireball or wide sweep + song of storms.

Kiyoko is hated on this thread but I find her third set decent.

As I agree that the skill tree is underdeveloped and needs a complete overhaul. There are some things that are salvageable (perks and stat building) But yes, classes means nothing.

Kiyoko's 3rd set is what made her a good support and her script focuses on you. About the lore: Is needed to revisit and scrap al sperging aspects of ToBS (many if not almost everything from 2nd paragraph is clutter). The kitsune can be modified as lore friendly (the setting is OK imo, but badly developed) And the wayfort seems that is taking the wrong direction.

But returning about the Kitsune I could take them as a stranded colony from the gods war (the one whom could be presumably lost from the Old country) From there is needed a revision (the sakura den is basically a beacon of "what the fuck is this" that can break the immersion and lore) Could be modified as a more traditional colony and those kitsune become less "weebified" as a way to develop on the harsh condition of Sky-marches. Also modifying some ofwhat they are really. From husks to life force vampires. (more like the youkai they really are) and making Keros a bit more known as "trickster and sexual affairs" (mallach can fuck off as a slaaneshi knock off).

After that make the Champ a real benefactor for them stablishing relations with the colony and after freeing kiyoko have the protection issues for you (You are the owner of those lands aren't we?). The most important part is modifying or deleting Kirito Sperg McNipples. Adds nothing to the plot and will not be missed as is, Add quest for the marriage of your daughter (THE NINJA WAY) and branch some classes from your contact with the Kitsune Village. (ninja, samurai, general). The next is making the bunch of kids you made an asset from workers to actual soldiers (They have your skill sponge perk) and Taking Kinu on a more suitable role as head and caretaker instead a maid (As well to rework hime-kinu as more an strategist and administrator than welll... A maid.), that could include peasant kinu as more a companion like character (branching a quest to fix the relation with her mother instead a marriage) and pulling out from the shadows Aya and Asagiri with actual development.

EDIT: As well a nice way to grind and make worthy the classes is adding class locked choices and class locked lore pieces.
As example:
-Berwyn can only open to you if you are a mage
-Brint Macho (Gym) scenes are warrior locked (and its branches)
-Add sparring sessions with Atugia (Under developed character imo) Which are warrior locked
-Quinn can teach sexhex magic (Lust oriented Black mage and locked to the min of 30 corruption)
-Quinn can teach Thief skills and hone your agility
- Some parts of the main story being class locked (random encounters, dialogues, etc.)
-Relegate Caith as just a fucking support role and OVERHAUL her entirely (FFS)
These are small points to fix the kitsune and to better integrate them into the lore of the game.

When Daliza asks you to get some workers to clean up the Wayfort, you are presented with two "response" options; ask for her advice, or just tell her you'll handle it. They both lead to the same bit of text where the PC asks for advice.

They aren't even pretending to try anymore.

That's not to mention hive quest, people rag on it for not supporting the corrupt ending but it doesn't even support the corrupt intro, you can beat, rape and force Azzy to tell you about the hive, force her to fight her siblings, watch her side with her mom practically dooming you and Liaden if you fail, yet your character will still treat her like a friend and have her sit on your lap when you win.
We all know that alternatives are never this game's strong suit but uou'd think the developers would at least try and hide that.

Some writers feel like your character 's just a mouthpiece to move the plot along. Your character doesn't even bring up the obvious counter of "what would she have done if Gwyn and Garret joined the cult?" Would she have been so nonchalant if somebody killed them just because they were consorting with cult.
What makes this worse is that Bubs tries to canonize that some members are brainwashed or tricked, so clashing writers make her come off even worse

Indeed. The real issue is that (as I said before) they are a headless chicken. There is no Lead writer or any spec of management on it. So they are just a bunch of zealous morons (With exceptions) and a sperg without any restraint (except the sperg that is leashed for fear he destroy the game with his personal vendettas).
