People get a little annoyed when this exact topic finished being discussed three posts before yours. Just take a few breaths and take a look to see if your question was already asked/answered, that is all. We are all really excited for the upcoming release, you are not alone .

That is an update talking about the PROGRESS of 0.8, which is still not out, it doesnt mean that it was released. You could literally see that if you clicked on that "update" on steam.
Many people here uploaded Steam version games and noone of them did not require a launcher to start the game. Also if you know some Steam games can be boot witout it easy.No, but it will try to use the Steam launcher to launch the game. If you have the launcher and have not purchased the game, this could get you in trouble with Steam. If you don't have the launcher, you may not be able to play the game.

This is what it says on steam as well : Patch note and release date will be shared a few day before release. So let us just wait for that info to be shared.

- New events (10 lewd events)
- New drunk defeat interactions
- New mini game
- New private meeting stage
- Private meeting event now gives gold on completion
- Skill Tree Changes:
- "Customer Satisfaction Survey" and "Barmaid Sixth Sense" skills have been merged.
- "Spike Drink" and "Anaphrodisiac Potion" skills have been removed; you no longer need these skills to use the potions from Gideon's Shop.
- Skill Tree will be reset upon loading saves from the previous version (0.7i or before).
- STEAM: New achievement for completing the recollection gallery, achievement for completing all achievements, new story achievement.
- Change to the versioning pattern from 0.8a to 0.8.1.
- Events condition preview available from the corruption journal, so you aren't surprised when you don't meet the requirements for a specific event after an activity.
- Fixed crash when loading a save with a script that shows a day recap.
- Fixed localization pluralization issue.
