You're reading way too deeply into the most insignificant thing, she's just a typical tsundere type. You are projecting a lot of opinion and judgement onto other people with your comments like this one. Your experience is not universal, and most confident, self-possessed men do not care if a girl with a known prickly attitude calls them an idiot somewhat half-heartedly to deflect from her own feelings.
even if a girl loves you to death and does everything you want her to doesn't mean that you have to let her call you disrespectful words. you can still tell her to stop with that behaviour if she wants to continue to be around you. then she can decide if its more important to her to playfully disrespect you or stay near you. the only reason to let that slide is imo if someone absolutely wants that sex/girl. its ok to tell a girl to correct her behaviour.
Orrrrr because they aren't stuck with the emotional maturity of a 12 year old and realize there's nothing actually meaningfully disrespectful about her interactions. Given her dynamic with the MC and the fact that she knows she's going to end up punished it's her way of playing into it, no different than Lucy intentionally breaking dishes so she'd get spanked.
She acts prickly but does she listen to her orders, requests and instructions? Does she do her work? Does she play along with the group, games and dynamic? Answer to all of that is yes. Die offended, it hasn't been a big deal to anyone here but you, just maybe that's a hint that it isn't actually a big deal and you're just not understanding the dynamic.
Besides that, she's a typical tsundere. You can't have a good anime style harem without at least one of them.

i get what sarah is. i dont mind it. the MC behaves much more pleasantly than the whiteknight-MCs from anime. still i think he was too tolerant on some occasions. the reaction to her behaviour can be in the same ballpark as the amount of disrespect in her not always playful insults. the MC doesn't have to overreact.

Guys I appreciate you have different views on Sarah but can you all let it go please? It's making the thread needlessly toxic at this point and this obviously isn't going to go anywhere. I've seen too many threads in this forum go that way and I'd like this one to stay...cosy 
Come on, friend, many guys especially husbands tolerate huge amounts of respectless behaviour these days. Even in most games on here the MCs just accept being shit on one time after another. In most things japanese its even worse. In Cosy Cafe thats not the case, and its probably one of the main reasons people enjoy it. What Sarah does is extremely minor, but considering what media most of us have to consume when wanting to be entertained its not outlandish to consider that we might have been conditioned to be ok with too much. If views on Sarahs behaviour differ so be it. Its still worth pointing out for consideration.
You feel letting it slide is the best behaviour, I think telling her to tune it down is best because girls tend to lose respect if you let slide too much. Its an interesting topic and talking about it is one of the boons of forums about sexual stuff. If my social commentary offended you personally I apologize. I don't intend to do that. Its just my contempt for todays society.

My personal feeling is that you're taking her words too literally. Sarah calling the MC an idiot is part of their dynamic, it's like a little game they play - she calls him an idiot, and he responds by spanking her, or hugging her, or groping her, or with some other form of intimacy or teasing. She's not stupid, she knows this pattern, but she's far too emotionally shut-off to just outright tell the MC she wants him to touch her (or whatever), so instead she calls him an idiot. What you should really hear every time she calls him an idiot is "I like you but I'm too scared to admit it, even to myself."

I get that, it just doesn't scan that well in my mind, possibly because it's a departure of the other language or for some other reason. Also as someone who has some experience of sub training one of the things that bug me is that the punishment comes too late. It's usually better to deal with bratty behavior in the moment than let it sit, unlike other types of punishments where you can ask for a report of all the missteps during the day for example.
In any case it's a nitpick on otherwise an excellent story.

I think we should have Sarah walk in on the MC & her mum in bed for her to have the confidence to admit it, all jokes aside be interesting to see where you take us with her.
I like the MC/Sarah dynamic!
This absolutely fits the persona of an inexperienced young woman who is still trying to sort out her feelings.
We also have to add in Sarah's position within her family - order of birth and birth mother makes a difference in her world - so she knows she is literally seen as having less value than her other older sisters.
Sarah's self-image is shaped by her own physical attributes as well as her 'family standing' - I think it is natural for her to not understand how the MC can find something in her that she can't see in herself.
Sarah's potential to grow into a woman who values herself as much as the MC values her is part of what makes her story so special to me.
The MC gets this and being called an idiot is, IMO, part of Sarah's armor protecting her from hoping for something more.
I can imagine Sarah's mock protest and private joy when the MC gives her a matching choker letting everyone know that Sarah is one of the women chosen by the MC.

I get that it's a device for implementing a character like her into the maledom happenings, and that a character like her is a established and often liked trope from japanese media. Mostly I tried to say that even if all those things mentioned apply - its a trope, a dynamic, a form of saying "I like you" - her behaviour is still disrespect, especially when in front of others. I don't have problem with it, but its the least favourite part of the game for me. It was more a theoretical argument for similar situations IRL.
I mean if its considered normal in 10 years that japanese anime girls kick you in the balls to communicate that they like you (is it already?!) - they still kick you in the balls, which I don't consider respectful behaviour from a girl towards a man.
Aside from that, I do think that on some (not all) occasions Sarahs behaviour didn't seem playful at all, but genuinly condescending.
But I'm also just not the target audience for her. I don't enjoy females that tease at all, for me its a masculine and dominant behaviour. In girls I enjoy open submission and gentleness. Which most of the girls in the game do/are, so everything good on my side. =)

nope, for one she's not doing it publicly
second, it's in the family. she observes MC and CO for days and discovered a certain warmth that was missing from her life. (i know the ingame time is barely 2 weeks from the day Sarah knows MC but we do get the feel its actually more than a fortnight based on these characters intimancy.
third, she can just walk out from this kind of shit literally anytime but she doesnt and MC noticed her interest when punishing Victoria and decides to tease her which the Shrimp accepted herself. Just observes her expressions from day 1 and current days as there's a minute change in expression of which i lead to the conclusion why the shrimp started to grow closer to the Cafe's team and she tried to build a place for herself in the cafe. That's when the idea of insulting and denying the MC came to play as she knew it will drawn the MC's attention to her.
and FYI, there's are all sorts of people out there

I don't hate the shrimp. I think her body is hot and I don't mind her attitude, I would just prefer if the MC was a bit less tolerant with her behaviour.
Of course I mentioned frequently that Cosy Cafe is in my opinion the best VN in existence, so my criticism of evrything the author created so far is 11/10.
While I don't mind the shrimps behaviour I do think its respectless, imagine a King sits on his throne and a concubine of his comes into the throne hall and calls him an idiot in front of full audience. It even may be affectionate (which the shrimp usually doesn't) but its still respectless to call a king an idiot. Similar if a random girl calls a respectable young man an idiot. Its just not respectfull behaviour.
Cosy Cafe is still the most enjoyable game for me nonetheless. Heck, I spent countless hours on microsoft paint creating the shitty signatures you and I use lol
