Hey guys, welcome to the first dev log of 2025! I hope you all had a happy Christmas/New Year?
This also marks the 2 year anniversary of the release of Cosy Cafe 0.1. For me, it feels like it's gone by in a flash, and the success of the game has truly exceeded my wildest dreams many times over. I'm so happy that so many of you enjoy my work, and I hope to continue earning your support and improving over the year to come!
So, on to the regular dev log:
As with every update after a release, there are a lot of new members here; so I want to say thank you for your support! I do these dev logs every two weeks, so you'll hear from me regularly regarding the progress of development. Though they won't all be as long as this one!
I took a good break over Christmas, which I really needed, but now I'm eager to get back to work. On that front, I've just finished the detailed scene plan for 0.12. It's going to be a
very long update once it's written, so long that I may even end up pushing some of the content back, but at the moment it's going to be a very girl-focused 2-day update, with solid story progression for Sarah, Catherine, Rachel, Misaki (Miss Takamura), and Akatsuki.
I'm going to start writing in the next few days, and hopefully have it close to completion by the time of the next dev log; at which point I should be able to give you a more accurate idea of the length, and therefore how long it's going to take to create.
Other than that, I've also been working on the public release version of 0.11 (the one you all just played) - 0.11.1. This is going to include a huge number of fixes for the new UI, the android version of the new UI, a couple of small new features being worked on by the UI designer, around 50 fixed renders that had graphical anomalies in older content (body parts clipping through clothes etc), and a variety of smaller fixes.
Finally, something that I find tends to surprise people when I tell them: I actually don't replay the early parts of the game very often. Of course, I play every inch of the new content over and over in the process of creating it, and I re-read the more recent updates as part of the writing process, but it's been almost a year since I last played the very early content.
I'm telling you this, because I'm replaying it now, and boy do I feel like it's nowhere near the quality of the new content! So with that in mind, I'm planning on starting the process of remastering the first 12 days of content over the course of 2025.
Now, before you grab your pitchforks, I don't plan on significantly slowing the pace of new content! And I definitely won't be skipping an update cycle to focus on old content! It's my intention to do this rework slowly, alongside the regular release of new content that you're used to. Hopefully you shouldn't even notice that I'm doing this in the background until I release the remastered content, but I thought I'd tell you about it because that's what dev logs are for!
And I think that about does it for this one! I feel like I've been a bit more long-winded than usual; so if you read this far, thanks! I'll talk to you all again in a couple of weeks, and as always - Thank you for your support, I really appreciate it!
