Dev Log 27

Hey guys, it’s time for another dev log!
To start, welcome to all the new faces that have joined since the release of 0.8, there are quite a few of you this time, and I really appreciate your support! I do these dev logs every other Sunday between releases, so you'll hear from me like this every so often.
0.8.1
As usual after an early access release, I've had a busy couple of weeks working on typos (thank you all for pointing them out!), and quality of life improvements for the public release. This time, 0.8.1 is going to be quite a big one in terms of overhauling some of the older content and non-content aspects of the game.
Pre 0.8 Render Update
I've applied the same post processing effects I used with the 0.8 renders on all of the older renders (6830 in total). The changes aren't huge, so you may not even notice if you're not looking for it, but it does add a bit more life and depth into everything.
User Interface Changes
These are mostly minor, but I thought I might as well let you know what I've been up to.
To start with, I've updated the main menu, and it now has music!
I'm thinking of making further graphical changes to the UI, such as changing the default renpy colours to pink for example, but I'm not sure yet.
Next, I've added a couple of functions to the UI, starting with new "<<" and ">>" buttons on the save/load screens that skip ten pages at a time. This has been requested by a few people now, but it took a surprising amount of time to figure out for something so simple.
Finally for the UI, I've split the "Sound" volume slider into two new sliders: "Sound Effects" and "Ambiance". Apparently there were people that didn't even know the game had ambiance because they had the music maxed out, so hopefully this will help with that.
Other Changes
I've also fixed a few issues with 0.8 (clipping in renders, Elizabeth missing from the character bio pages), and added a few new lines of dialogue to some of the earlier content (mostly 0.1) that clarifies a few things that people were confused about. This is the first time I've ever added or changed dialogue from previous content (aside from fixing typos and grammar), but none of it changes any of the plot or lore, so you're not missing anything if you never replay it.
The final major change that I want to do for 0.8.1 before the public release is something I've mentioned before but never gotten around to: I plan on going through all of the older content and adding in a wider range of music, mostly focusing on giving each girl a theme song that will play in their major scenes, but also just adding a wider range of bgm in general like I did with 0.8.
0.9
So, while the above has been taking up a lot of my time, I have, of course, been working on 0.9. I've got the story fully planned out, and it's going to be a two day update covering the weekend of the maid event. The focus will be spread quite broadly, with almost all of the girls getting their own scenes or moments to shine, but I'd say the main girls this time will be Victoria, Sarah, Catherine, Hannah, and Alison. I've finished writing Saturday and it comes to roughly 11,000 words, so I imagine the final count will be somewhere around 20,000.
That's it for this dev log, and of course while it's much too early to say when 0.9 will be done, I'm aiming to stick roughly to my usual two month schedule.
The next dev log will be on the 31st, at which point I'll probably put 0.8.1 out on patreon, just in case any of you haven't played 0.8 yet, and should have begun the rendering process for 0.9. Until then, and as always, thank you for all of your support!
