This game is really neat but I find it kind of overwhelming with how many options there are. Yes, there's the hints menu, but I still enjoy more direction than that -- I don't suppose that somewhere in the game's community there's a "standard" opening, or suggestions for how to play the first couple of days to get used to it? Getting dropped into the sandbox just kind of overwhelms me.
TBH if you get overwhelmed and just want to play the game just use the options to reduce the needs and get more xp or just cheat and dont bother with some aspects of the game

Incidentally, I think it would be neat if the world generation options also let you tweak NPC fetish prevalence the way you can in Lilith's Throne. That's one of my favorite aspects of that game.
Nothing about the "realistic orgasm" mod is realistic. As a man you are like a Crossbow: you shoot once with full force then you need a moment to reload. The older you get the longer the reloading takes.
Cumming more than once is rare
I think my criticism here is that it was over once both of you climaxed. But there are guys who shoot their load, and then are still quite willing to please their partner with their mouth or hands until they can go again.
But the addition of a second round if you want to mainly fixes this for me. What's missing is the ability to make your partner last longer/orgasm denial, and for NPC to ask for a second round on their own initiative.
I fully understand the comparison, and by any objective measure, DoL is the more complete game.
But I just prefer CoT a thousand times more, probably for the same reason many people in this thread are unhappy with it. I like it because it's a much more happy and optimistic game. I just want to play the school slut who has consensual sex with as many people as possible, while maintaining good grades and making the town bar more horny. I see the roommate and their gf/bf and think "I can fix them", and I'm sad that I can't convert them to be non-assholes.
But overall, the game is extremely my shit, and updates usually cater to what I want more off in the game.
There are a lot of quite dark games out there. I really appreciate the tone of this game. I hope people who are more into the DoL stuff find more games to their tastes, too. But please let us have this one.
Well said, mate.
With all the games out there that favors rape and violence, this game is a rare exception. I really like the optimistic tone of the writing in this game and just like you I enjoy playing a Slut that has consensual sex. It has also a vastly superior UI and readability to DOL.
For me I prefer playing an MC that runs into noncon encounters like DOL facilitates, but DOL has a lot more than that which makes it less appealing to me. The scenarios and stories are bizarre and fantastical, a lot of the content is focused on very narrow fetishes that aren't my thing, and figuring route/scene-unlocking is extremely tedious (I still don't know how you unlock any of the stuff locked behind the cafe in that game as the manager never ever gains favor when I work there...).
In comparison CoT but with noncon encounters is basically my ideal game. The gangbang mod is ok but extremely repetitive in what it has to offer and I generally prefer the actual scenes in these games anyway - the last vestiges of dubcon stuff left in the bully storyline still does it better.
E: Also I vastly prefer text-only and the encounter-animations in DOL are a bit of a turn-off. I tried the mod that makes it more anime-y which helped but also was pretty buggy for me.

DoL is best described as a "teenage rape victim simulator". It's doing only that, but it's done really well.
CoT gives a very strong DoL vibe. Not just the in interface and menus, but in the direction of things. Your char is expected to run into events that are happening to them, not initiating much. Proactive, assertive behaviour is rarely allowed. So, naturally, players will start to assume that it's a DoL "clone" and ask for rape content. That, ironically, demonstrates the biggest issue with this game. It funnels player into a "whoresim" experience, and those games are expected to have rapey outcomes, hence the "where are my dub-non-half-con events?" complaints.
Despite advertising itself as a "lifesim" RPG, it offers only one truly viable type of playthrough — running a straight sexually subservient female, who spends her waking hours in search for cocks to take. There are a bunch of RPGM games about that, just without the "lifesim" grindy clickfest. Vast majority of the content caters to that, so running any other char gonna provide a lackluster experience.
For the record, I ran two paythroughs: a slut and a male PussySlayer69. The latter one was largely a waste of time.

I really like the game play aspect of DoL especially it's supernatural elements. It's just that all the abuse started to drag my enjoyment down. Last I played the main antagonist becomes a massive wall if you try to protect your friend.
I reduced the guys to the minimum so the claim that the game is only interesting if your girl mc is straight hasn't been my experience. I'll give you that the game is geared more towards the mc being the bottom in most situations but that's OK with me. I'd also like for the mc to have more assertive opportunities tho.
To me this game is like the Sims with a bit of 18+ scenario.

I started my game as my go to female MC that is a Slut that seeks and enjoys all kind of sex. Male MC games never had much appeal to me. The thought that a girl just has fun and openly whores herself out is a huge turn on for me. Guys that are players and sleep around are very common IRL and in fiction, while the female version is not. Harem games only have appeal to me if the girls are interesting.
However at some point I did restart the game as a male Mc that is a self insert of myself. While you kinda lose the appeal of the topless bar, I never figured I'd have that much fun. Now the male save is my main game. So no, I wouldnt call it a waste of time. The fact that you can dominate or direct your partners and you can quit encounters at will if things go strange for you is a whole Plus over DOL where everything wants to rape your ass.
The only thing I dislike about the male POV is the constant arguments about using a condom. The female version can simply agree to a creampie and nobody has a second thought. I had to cheat edit my girlfriend into a Risk taker, to reduce the back and forth about condom usage a tiny bit.
Other random thoughts:
You are right. More option to be proactive would be cool. I downloaded a mod recently that allows to kiss or suggest a quicky to the girls you talk to. Stuff like that should be baseline.
I wish that NPCs pubic hair was more described during sex if you unlock the feat. Most text is about the MC only. I want to read about their hairy pussies, not how bushy my own balls are.
I wish that the gang bang mod was less rapey and mean spirited, being a fun threesome for everybody instead. Why do they need to abuse the MC after the act? I don't mind being dominated by partners that treat me rough, but There should be a consensual version too and your submission stat chooses if it is rapey or consensual.

DoL is fine and popular for good reasons, I was just referring to a popular complaint that after you are tired (or not a fan) of protag-centred abuse content, there is little to do there.
As for the straight/gay stuff in CoT, the way a lot of scenes are written implies a clear male/female roles. For example: anything group, spitroast in swimming pool, cheerleader's threesome w/ football team, construction workers' catcalling, slutshaming, prostitution (arguably). Seeing a guy being slutshamed by calling him "a stud" or catcalled by all-female builder team is just bizarre. Same with notHalloween costume competition, when the audience lost their minds after my guy bared his chest. The depravity!
You just can't help but notice that the game changes gender keywords, even when that doesn't work well.

OK.. How do you unlock spit roasting, being catcalled by construction worker, prostitution (outside of arcade sidebets). Cheerleader threesome requires being a cheerleader I guess? I tried E sports and swimming so far. Both are pretty lame, outside of the swim coach likes to see me nude.

I get the appeal of running a slut-it-up girl, that was fun. Wholeheartedly agree on DoL take. Same with the lack of female protags with agency in this medium.
Thing is, CoT does not have dom/sub dynamics present due to the severe lack of options. Dom/sub is largely based upon control, and you are not allowed to control NPCs in any meaningful way. You cannot change their attire, behaviour, choice of words (nicknames, titles). That's true both ways — subbing your char to an NPC is pointless, they not gonna do anything special. Dom/sub in this game is understood as a top/bottom preference, nothing more.
My issue with this game is that, after seeing DoL influence, I hoped that the dev will lean into things that it lacked, like allowing to run an assertive protag, able to shape the games world and its inhabitants, and was disappointed that it is slanted so hard into a hookup sim.

Good points. For me the frustrating part of DoL is that the choices heavily railroad you into being a helpless victim wherever you go. There are seemingly tons of options but not many of them matter when it comes to player choices too.

I HATE the combat rape in DoL. I also HATE the supernatural shit in it. Saying that... I really like the scripted sex scenes that are in DoL. I like it when the story pushes the player into a situation where sex can happen. Non-con or not I like the scenes.
CoT has fewer scripted sex scenes. Like becoming a cheerleader and then agreeing to have sex with the team is nice but that's 2 sex scenes there... The milkshake discovery has a sex scene that's good. But they are so few and grindy to get often.
I dislike any random generic sex scene. I want a storyline to direct it, to give it context.

You also have that with a fMC sadly, since some guys insist on using a condom. It technically makes sense from a "realism" point of view, but the whole idea of implementing pregnancy in a down to earth game like CoT just makes no sense to me. If a college student has a baby, that's basically it. It would throw the whole life into disarray and you can really implement that in a game like this in any meaningful and at least semi-plausible way. Just imply that all the girls take their pill and be done with it. Focus development time of things that make more sense for a game like this.

You can pretty much deactivate almost all of the supernatural stuff in DoL, if I remember correctly.
I think CoT just needs more of everything which will hopefully come with time. It also needs more options during the sex scenes, especially for scenes with more than one partner. The question is, how much sandbox and how much narrative you want. For example: Do you want just a bunch of teachers/professors and the MC can start an affair with any or all of them or do you build in one teacher that the MC can date but who has an actual narrative arc.

To be honest, this is in part also a game design issue. Most games like this struggle heavily with the dom side and... it makes some sense.
Providing a dominant scene when 'winning' is easy enough. but it is a lot easier to create limits for the player and give them the experience of being pushed down, than it is to create a submissive NPC who still feels like a 'person'. They're not 'people' after all and it is very challenging to give control without also making it more obvious it's just the computer.
Combine this with the vast majority of people being sexually submissive, and games /rarely/ go the dom route.
For me, I like DoL a lot. What interests me in this game right now is the possibility for a DoL-like that isn't quite /as/ dark. DoL really does push it - every corner, every person you meet, is a sex creep except 1 character. Even some who don't seem it, can become one depending on your actions. It makes the world hard to believe, sometimes.
Problem is this game honestly fails at being anywhere close to as good. School is the worst part of DoL arguably - being intensely repetitive - and this game manages to make it even more repetitive and less interesting. It's pure grind and I really wish we could just take way less classes. I hate every last one of them currently.
And DoL's best part is arguably the downright charming character writing - even if most are creepy, almost all of the characters are enticing as can be. This game lacks that - or in fact, any interesting writing. DoL has a world full of lore, history and characters you want to see more of. CoT, currently, just offers a hollow sandbox with a lot of grind. Whether the creator is even planning to write anything - or capable of it, honestly - remains to be seen. But a sandbox in and of itself just isn't enough - every great sandbox game I can think of shines in part because of the fantastic characters living in that sandbox. I do not think it is possible to create that connection, memorabilitity and liveliness using only generation.
