Overview:
Courting Death
is a hand-drawn adult visual novel set in a gritty post-cyberpunk future, where mystery, violence, and consequence define every path you take.

You play as Archie Dixon, a recently transferred detective in Noris PD — one half of the divided Neopolis City. Haunted by a mission gone wrong and the death of a young girl, Archie finds a mysterious pill in her hand — a clue that pulls him into something far deeper. Alongside his partner Hugo Laurent, he begins to unravel a conspiracy rooted in drugs, trafficking, prostitution, and sexual exploitation — one that cuts through layers of power, corruption, and human connection.

looks very intriguing, however most games like that here don't get finished i hope this is one of those exceptions

Wow... I used to really enjoy watching Donghua (I don't anymore), and the title was inspired by that.
I never thought people would notice that :p


Need force skipping
I intentionally disabled the Skip and Back features to preserve the pacing and tension of the story, especially during time-limited choices and critical moments.
That said, I understand the need for convenience, so if compatibility issues ever arise in future updates (for example older saves not working, but i hope that will never happen), I might consider re-enabling the Skip function to help returning players catch up more easily.

Haven't played this yet, since I always wait a few updates and I'm very particular about the tags I enjoy in games, and I'm not sure what to expect from this game in that regard.

PS: I put the majority of the post in the spoiler tab, it's my full thoughts about rollback and skip functions. But the TLDR is this; I think it is a bad idea to remove those features. Read the full post for my reason why, I feel like it is pretty compelling, but I also realize that, as I said, I can rant.

The full story for Courting Death was finished before development began, and disabling rollback and skip was part of the plan from the start. It’s not about limiting players, it’s about supporting the story’s pacing, tone, and emotional weight (I'm a bit poetic here).

I get that this might not fully come across in the short demo, and I understand it’s not everyone’s preferred playstyle. And yes, I’m aware that tools like UnRen exist. Players who want full control will always find a way, and that’s fine.

This was an intentional design choice, not an oversight. I appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts, and I genuinely hope you give the demo a try.
