I’ve never played Elden Ring before. Not really my thing, even though my friends really like it.i gotta say, you're talented, dev. the way i see it the main route is a complete game itself. the v route is like a bonus game and i think you've also done a good job so far on that front. i appreciate how big nocturna castle map was, that takes time and effort to make. also, lingrave clinic (does the name have any connection with limgrave in elden ring?) felt like hell, i don't like that place but i suppose that was indeed the intention so good job with that one, you've nailed it.
I have one criticism tho. combat is fairly balanced, however, I think vampirism dot dmg is a tad too strong. i calculated the dmg, its 21% of your hp! yes you heal 5% each round(some armor making it 7% for me right now, anyway doesnt matter, not the point) i have put that into the equation. i get the dot i start losing 14% hp but im also healing for 7% so im actually taking 21% dmg with each tik. i didnt want to write an essay on this and explain how and where and why this dot can be brutal sometimes yada yada. i mean i will if you want me to explain further but, dont you really think 21% is a lot? look at bleed, its a joke compared to this. nothing hurts as much as vampirism, except bosses' ults, but they're ults. this is a dot, not even a special dot unique to a boss. even lvl 1 ghouls from early game can inflict this dot! come on! request for nerfing it a bit, like to 15%?I’ve never played Elden Ring before. Lingrave Clinic is one of my favorite areas to hear players thoughts on, because outside the final dungeon, its the one I put the most thought into designing and giving it a unique gimmick. You are absolutely supposed to feel stressed when you’re there. Even if a player is high level when they reach that point, they can’t play recklessly.
I actually did nerf vampirism damage a bit. It used to deal 25%. The idea of the bleed status is that effectively negates your healing each turn and that it is a status that can be worked around. However, I want players to be wary, from the start, how dangerous any vampire can be. Even a weak one can overwhelm you if you go into every fight unprepared. I’ve heard others complain about this issue before, but I’m sticking to my guns on this. Potential Vampirism damage should always be on players minds before they decide their move.I have one criticism tho. combat is fairly balanced, however, I think vampirism dot dmg is a tad too strong. i calculated the dmg, its 21% of your hp! yes you heal 5% each round(some armor making it 7% for me right now, anyway doesnt matter, not the point) i have put that into the equation. i get the dot i start losing 14% hp but im also healing for 7% so im actually taking 21% dmg with each tik. i didnt want to write an essay on this and explain how and where and why this dot can be brutal sometimes yada yada. i mean i will if you want me to explain further but, dont you really think 21% is a lot? look at bleed, its a joke compared to this. nothing hurts as much as vampirism, except bosses' ults, but they're ults. this is a dot, not even a special dot unique to a boss. even lvl 1 ghouls from early game can inflict this dot! come on! request for nerfing it a bit, like to 15%?
exactly. you use holy water/purify, enemy bites again, you purify again, they bite again, and so one. had it where i was bitten 5 times in a row sometimes. you understand? 5! know what the problem is? its that you purify/use holy water every round, but you STILL take dmg, cuz enemy bites after you and then the round ends. and you take dot dmg on every round end. like bro what else am i supposed to do? and you might say: just try to end the fight fast and use holy water. well that doesnt always work and you die if you dont heal. and besides, you cant purify out of combat so you run out of holy water real fast, how many holy water and heals are you going to need man? and that shield that blocks vampirism, is in nocturna castle. you're like 40 something HR by then+having resurrection anyway. those Nachzehrers fucked me up real good before i would get to that point. the only enemies im, as dev puts it, wary of.It's been quite some time since I played the game, as I have been waiting for both routes to get finished, but from what I recall vampirism was really annoying. You get infected with vampirism, you use a consumable that removes it, and the very next turn you get infected again, so basically wasted the item used. It was so annoying at times that I still remember it, despite how long it has been since the last time I played.
not sure if this is targeted at or not, but if it is, dont waste your time trying to take a jab at me. this was a sort of review of mine, i only wrote here after i'd already finished the game so please dont insult me by implying i need an easier mode, of course this doesnt mean just cuz i was able to finish it, i shouldnt be criticizing what i see as a bad design. i could change that "-.21" value myself but i wrote and expressed my concerns here with the intention of making the game more enjoyable for everybody. i only said anything cuz i like this game and give a shit about it. either way dev's given his opinion and i doubt they'll change it so i wont continue.Sounds like someone needs to lower the difficulty slider.
And thank you for voicing your opinion. Your reasoning is solid, I’m just adamant about keeping the damage threshold where it is. I love hearing the opinions of others regarding the game and its lead to multiple QOL changes over time, so feel free to voice your thoughts whenever. I frequently check on this thread for new comments, so don’t think you’re shouting out into the void when you post here.not sure if this is targeted at or not, but if it is, dont waste your time trying to take a jab at me. this was a sort of review of mine, i only wrote here after i'd already finished the game so please dont insult me by implying i need an easier mode, of course this doesnt mean just cuz i was able to finish it, i shouldnt be criticizing what i see as a bad design. i could change that "-.21" value myself but i wrote and expressed my concerns here with the intention of making the game more enjoyable for everybody. i only said anything cuz i like this game and give a shit about it. either way dev's given his opinion and i doubt they'll change it so i wont continue.
I really like that you're sticking with your idea while also listening to feedback. I don't remember ever having to worry about this debuff more than twice in a battle so that may be why I didn't find it as difficult as some of the posters here. And thank you for voicing your opinion. I don’t know about that, but I think you did give me a good idea. Check back for updates because I think that I thought of a compromising solution.I really like that you're sticking with your idea while also listening to feedback. I'd like to offer a suggestion that after using holy water(?) to cure your bite if the vampire bites you again they are hit with a debuff themselves. The flavor would be that whatever is curing you from the illness is actively harmful to vampires if digested.
yeah something like that. you could make a buff for holy water that would protect you from vampirism for a few rounds. damaging the enemy is good too, if you dont find it too much a buff that is, but protection is a reasonable buff. so yeah i think this is easily implementable. not sure if same thing would make sense for purify tho so holy water>purify. then again you also buy it so it would make sense.I don’t know about that, but I think you did give me a good idea.
