Im stuck, guy at base camp tells me to go to eastern summit but when I climb with the hook I get to a slime pit that wont let me jump so I cant go further.

No, I feel the same thing, cursor/crosshair is definitely more jumpy in the game and not outside the game. Tried making circle cursor movements and the circle jumps from place to place

Before you can keep going there, you need to fight the bossmonster, which is the cause of the purple goo.
You should get to the boss, if you follow this path:
