I'm sure glad we got rid of noncon content and the Spooky Starlets crossover material so we could have a recolor.

And of course the dev whines about "toxicity" now - that seems to be the default recourse for anyone who can't deliver. Imagine people complaining because you can't manage more than one deliverable per year. Oh but my ADHD, my depression! Lotta people have these things and still do better than this.

The recolor isn't a bad idea in itself, but whenever a project starts in with this hokey-pokey of removing existing content and adding new stuff and then removing that, it's a really bad sign for its future. As are the excuses. As is the schedule slip on even posting the text updates containing the excuses.

First, you realize that the non-con has been removed for, like, a couple years now, right? And the Spooky Starlets had to be removed because it's its own copyrighted material and whatever the falling out was, they said Anon had to remove it, right?

You obviously don't believe depression or ADHD are real things, never mind the fact that the devs have been 100% up front about the conditions the WHOLE time.

You sit here talking like the only thing they've done in the past year is a recolor, never mind EVERY journal update talking about the revisions to the code, artwork, artists leaving the project and needing replacement, recompiling everything, bug fixes, adjusting current content to take the on-coming updated gameplay mechanics. YOU are literally the toxic they are talking about, shitting on them for no reason other than it's taking longer than you want, and content you wanted to stay in was pulled for either legal reasons, or because the primary VA and devs didn't like it.

Sit all of the down. Leave the thread and pull your funding from the si...oh wait. You don't even do that. If the lack of pirated updates that provides new fap material bothers you that much, just leave the thread ffs.

I was a paying Patreon supporter of this game for a few years. I also happen to be bipolar but I maintain a full-time job and take care of my responsibilities. How many years now has this game been in development?

you're wrong.

"For those of you that haven't heard, Patreon recently updated and reinforced their stance on certain elements of adult games.

..

I will be reevaluating every aspect of Crisis Point to make sure that it adheres to these new guidelines. I don't expect to have to change the game much, for the record - I don't believe there is much in this game that doesn't already follow the guidelines, and the few things that might not can be easily replaced. That being said, I wanted to inform you all of these impending changes now. Those of you that are unhappy with the shift, I don't blame you if you want to cancel your pledges - however, please understand that these changes are necessary for me to continue my work through Patreon"

I'm fine with being considered toxic by a lazy/scam dev.
if he didn't milk patrons for literally thousands of dollars every month and paused the billing whenever he went AWOL for a month or i wouldn't be complaining.

way ahead of you, which is also a reason why I'm salty, my patreon name should even appear in the credits when they get added.

But it's been a few years, the dev had plenty of time to migrate to SubscribeStar.
Assuming Anon even wants to. They removed non-con (and other things) to comply with Patreon, sure, but they've said multiple times that the non-con stuff didn't fit the tone they ultimately were shooting for.
"But why add it in the first place then?" Dude, I don't know. It's been discussed multiple times in the thread at this point. You can find posts from Anon himself about it.

Exactly. Why add it in the first place?

How many games have you personally developed in that time? Don't forget, Anon works as well full time.

I'm not even, oh wait I am. I'm also going to point out that professional game developers take YEARS for a game and that's dedicated time. Biggest case in point: Metroid: Samus Returns. This is a 3DS remake of the (original) Gameboy Return of Samus. It was done in the Mercury engine, by the company that MADE the engine. So, we have a remake of a game being done in an engine that they developed. Still took 2 years to make. A remake. In a game engine the dev team created in the first place.

Anon and co are doing this outside their normal jobs, and don't have a fully established engine at their finger tips with years of experience in coding in it.

The one part I'm replying to. Funny how you ignore my very valid point of every dev journal we've gotten over the past year showcasing exactly what they've been doing, instead of adding fappable material. It's like...a game requires 10 times the coding than you think to make the one feature you want work! As we've seen with the updates to the gallery just trying to add the BE and three-ways into it. And the number of bugs it introduces. But that's all just "milking patreon" isn't it.

Nice triple post. You know you can quote multiple posts at once instead of cluttering the thread?
you realize that the non-con has been removed for, like, a couple years now
So?
Spooky Starlets had to be removed because it's its own copyrighted material
I'm not sympathetic to any use of copyright to destroy material or make it entirely unavailable. Copyright exists to promote the creation of new work.
You obviously don't believe depression or ADHD are real things,
Yeah, because "lotta people have these conditions" is what you say when you don't believe in those conditions. Oh wait, that makes no sense.
YOU are literally the toxic they are talking about, shitting on them for no reason other than it's taking longer than you want, and content you wanted to stay in was pulled
Which is plenty of reason to shit on them, and I don't believe I denied it. I don't care if they stop engaging here. I never expect devs to engage here in the first place, this being a pirate forum and all.
Sit all of the down. Leave the thread
Or what? You'll rage impotently at us and white-knight some more, unable to accept you got strung along? Admittedly that's not the most original entertainment in the world, so I might leave eventually.
and pull your funding from the si...oh wait. You don't even do that.
I can't exactly pull funding twice without re-subbing, and I'm not going to do that soon. I kept receiving the journal updates in case this project ever got back on track.

This game has been in development for EIGHT YEARS!
Do you really think it should take eight years to finish an adult indie game with pixel graphics?

I don't think you realize the insane amount of content there is behind a game like this, especially when compared to other traditional "adult indie games with pixel graphics". And I wouldn't blame you, as if I didn't attempt to decompile it then I would probably not have realized, either.

But just so that you know, CPE v0.46 has:
  • 100,000+ lines of code
  • 15,000 sprites
  • 1000 sound files

Think about these numbers for a second. This amount of files, even split over 8 years, is still a crazy amount of work per day. I already explained this somewhere else on this forum, but many people here don't realize the insane amount of work and dedication that is required to make video games, and you guys should be extremely grateful to have people invest years of their life on it. The reality is, it's already kind of a miracle that this dev hasn't burned out before.

Besides, if all you care about is for the game to be "finished", then the dev can just scrap the "WIP" walls, bump the version to 1.1 and say this is a finished game, doubt anyone would notice.

You almost had a valid point but let's do some math. Once again, this game has been in development for eight years!
  • 100,000+ lines of code = an average of 34 lines of code written per day.
  • 15,000 sprites - This would be impressive if it was really challenging to create 5 pixel sprites in a day.
  • 1000 sound files = 125 sound files per year of development.
Incidentally, any programmer/software engineer who can't write at least a hundred lines of code in a day really sucks at his job.

90% of F95 threads contain the same discussion, over and over again, aren't you tired of it?
Being an h-content creator sucks. The depression rate is at least 10 times higher than that of SFW artists.
I struggle with this myself, and honestly, constantly whining about milking the patreons won't make those patreons stop paying nor make such developers start creating their games faster.
