No, I feel the same thing, cursor/crosshair is definitely more jumpy in the game and not outside the game. Tried making circle cursor movements and the circle jumps from place to place

Before you can keep going there, you need to fight the bossmonster, which is the cause of the purple goo.

Try reducing the game speed to 50% in settings. Avoiding the affected area will become noticeably easier.
how do you move the game window? it's stuck half-way off my screen and since it has no title bar i cannot drag it around...
overall seems like a good question, why doesn't the game have normal borders and title bar? seems like a rather weird design decision to me.
it also locks your cursor despite being windowed, even in the menus. it would be nice if atleast in the menus it would unlock the cursor (ie allow it outside the bounds of the window).
