Regrettably, yes, this was a god send when I was nine years younger, and now nearly decade later, it still remains incomplete. I admit I lack knowledge about game development or the involved, but I believe that unless it is an exceptionally large project with online multiplayer and server requirements, ten years for a single game seems excessive.I was completely sure this game was already released for some reason, probably because its in development for 10 years. I guess we are having another something something fragments situation here.
Basically yeah, it's just a "progress update" here and there and those are just updates on character recolorsWas this game Abandoned or something?

it was an patron exclusive while the game was in early developmentHow up to date is the gallery download?
You can go on his patreon and see how many months in a row he's taken peoples money just to make polls for alt colors of boots, jackets, underwear, eye color, hair color, etc. He's a scammer milking his patreon now. He's making over $5k/mo and doesn't even have to show results to get it. You don't need to come up with excuses for him, he has 829 people fooled already. For a team of one to three people who dont have a ton of experience, ten years is a long but not that long. The dev has struggled with some shit so that adds time as well.
Think this dev is caught in a pretty common trap: Start making a game without much experience, get pretty far/finish the game building skills while you do so, then want to redo the whole game to get the quality up to your new skill level, rinse and repeat. Its an endless loop if you dont catch yourself.
Don't think I made any excuses for the dev lol, not even suggesting anyone should support on Patreon. Maybe he's making up the mental health issues just to keep the subscriptions rolling but this exact arc of game development is extremely common. You can go on his patreon and see how many months in a row he's taken peoples money just to make polls for alt colors of boots, jackets, underwear, eye color, hair color, etc. He's a scammer milking his patreon now. Same experience!I'm glad I stopped supporting this patreon years ago. Since then only 2 maybe 3 updates have dropped. Supposedly another one is dropping soon but the dev has already missed their self imposed deadline. It's a shame because this is one of the better porn games out there.
Although I'm glad there's finally an update after ages, this isn't as much as I had hoped for. After so long since the last update I expected this one to be huge. Unless there's more that isn't in the patch notes as a surprise. If I were still subscribed on patreon I would be pretty unhappy. Here's hoping we start getting regular updates.Version 0.48 is finally out! There's a trailer in the CPE discord, and a changelog attached under it:
Crisis Point: Extinction v0.48 Major Changes and Features
-First half of story rewrite has been implemented, including a brand new intro and several improved/reworked cutscenes
-Hoverjets upgrade has been reworked for more dynamic movement in the lategame
-Playthrough Stats menu has been added; only a few things tracked for now, but more will be added as development continues
-Translation/localization support has been added; for the time being, only English is available officially, but the game now supports custom translations so the community can easily make their own
-New duo BJ CG added, starring Lucas, Verreda, and Alicia
-Support for multiple save files has been added, including an autosave slot so manual saves will never be automatically overwritten anymore
-Save file filesize was dramatically reduced
-Improved gameplay animations for several enemies
-Warped Soldiers now have a melee attack to prevent the player from running past them as easily
-Damage numbers were added to combat (can be toggled off if you prefer)
-Community Recolor Poll winners added to Alicia color palettes
-Speaker names were added to all dialogue boxes
-Debug mode (unlocked at the end of the demo) will now be saved to your save file for the duration of this major update (as in, it will apply to v0.48 and all of its hotfixes, but debug will be removed when you load the save in v0.49, after that comes out)
Also this:
As always, the download link for v0.48 will be in a Patron-only post right after this one, and I'll also be sending the link in a DM to everyone who pledged at the $10+ tier at least once since the last update came out - so if you pledged at the $10 or $30 tier even once since April 2024, you should be getting the download link for the update even if you're no longer pledged. It might take a little bit to send out those posts, but if you haven't received it by tomorrow and you think you should've, please message me so I can double check!
This aged so well lmfaoSame experience!
I used to support this dev on Patreon, but then they starting saying stuff like "total story rewrite" and "game engine migration".
Anon42 stopped putting out updates for a while and would come back after some months with a half-hearted post about thanking people for the continued support and that they were totally still working on updating the game...
People have been calling it "Patreon scam" literally since page 1, by your logic nobody would have ever supported the dev and the game would have died 8 years ago. We are now 128 pages later and the game is one of the highest rated on the website. This aged so well lmfao
