Overview:
In the decaying ruins of Midnight City, danger and opportunity lurk in every shadow, beneath every flickering neon light. For Mezz, a cocky and capable crimefighter, a new chance at both has just opened up: A dusty data disc that may be a ticket to the Towers, the gleaming, guarded enclave of the elites. But getting his paws on it may take longer than expected, as the trail leads him straight to the dark, filthy heart of Midnight City: The Gutter.

This is chapter 2, chapter 1 is free . There is a way to transfer some data over after completing the first chapter, instructions are .
Let me point some things - this is an incomplete chapter 2, author hasn't added everything he wanted for it, so bugs still presented, one incomplete route and one ending hasn't been added yet. Transfering data unlocks only one scene, so as of now you can play without losing much.

You can put the game in an unwinnable state five minutes in.

The first combat area cannot be left until you defeat the boss. There are a limited number of enemies (so grinding is not possible) and if you use your healing items before the boss, you simply cannot beat the swarm of enemies because you have no way to recover HP mid combat anymore.

That's just incredibly sloppy game design.

The first combat area (the desert) doesn't have a boss fight. Rather two mandatory fights and both being swarm fights. All the other swarm fights in the desert are optional, if you can avoid them.
There is not much need for leveling up, i defeated the final boss on 12th level, you need items only on a swarm of 5-6 enemies. Use Hard Knocks skill as much as you can, 3 hits on one enemy with it is a guarantee knockdown, 2 hits and one regular attack to defeat one works too, so the tactic is taking down one at a time, and using healing items when necessary, when one enemy is left to battle make sure always use focus to regain energy and defeat it, after the battle heal yourself with Patch Up. And save often. Also there is an optinal boss Mahir after the desert part, if you want to see all nsfw scenes you don't fight him at all. After you gain access to the side alley you can continue to lose to the point where your character refuses to fight at all and rather always escapes from enemies, you can do it 9 times until a game over screen happens. And again this chapter is incomplete, so some power balance could be changed in the future.

You can heal for free after every fight using your "patch up" skill. The MP resets after every fight so you can abuse this like a 50's housewife ;)

Huh, that's new, the first chapter didn't have your energy restored at the end of the battle, unfortunately, that's probably a bug, since it's only restored after level up before. Unless of course he made the game easier on purpose.

The tactic I used in the previous game still works for this one. Once you're down to one enemy in a fight, take time to use Focus to refill your Energy to full, then take that enemy out with regular attacks. Then heal yourself with Patch Up after, which shouldn't use up much Energy, and leave you with plenty to use in the next fight. You only really need to worry if you have a 5-person battle, in which case you'll need healing items.

I bought this game because I loved the first one and was hyped with the promises of "chapter 2 will be twice as long as chapter 1" and all the stuff the artist promised.
I'm kind of disappointed he decided to release it in this state.

I understand it's still a WIP given the 0.5.0 tag, but I suppose I kind of expected something of at least the same quality of the first free chapter as a baseline if I'm paying money for it.
Don't get me wrong, the product is still enjoyable as it is. But given the expectations set by the artist and the time this took to make, it feels underwhelming. I have no doubts it's a no man's sky situation, but the hour or so this game lasts is not really worth the money right now.

Edit. I now realized I accidentally played the game in the most optimal way possible and therefore speedran through the entire game, as a result I saw almost none of the lewd scenes. I now realize this was a mistake, and while I still do believe that the game is a bit short for it's $10 price tag, I retract my previous review.

I must be doing something wrong, I started and walked around the city multiple times only being able to enter the hotel and bathrooms. I talked to everyone I saw and only receive "component from scratch". What am I supposed to do to progress?

Edit : NVM I finally found a ducted off area at the top of the map

From any Entrance of outside the Hotel, move right, until you see a road leading north, follow that road, until you see an alleyway, and follow it all the way until the end, it does twist and turn a bit. After you talk to Scratch, exist the alleyway, and follow the road down south, and "enter" a new map, which will be the same one, but this "new" map will have time moved forward, and you have to talk to Scratch again, and after, exist the alleyway, and follow the road down south, and enter the desert.
