I don't think it's intended, but once the sniper joins the party, she can shoot anything on the front lane as long as you don't move her from the starting point (inside the house), so basically you just need to care about the back (upper) lane.
Well, only at first glance. After finishing this game, I felt so disappointed and went back to play The Last Stand (flash version) - and that one is still fun.
