I guess I am not the only one who can't trigger the "rival" event with Nina. I'm over 900 points with the swimming pool and on mpnday. 12:00, 13:00, 14:00 and so on, no event. I don't even see anything new on the map that tells me how to activate the event. I can't speak to Nina when she is in the water either.

Mainly because the dev has made triggering events purposefully time consuming to an absurd degree. Just look at your playtime dude. No porn game should require 31 hours to unlock all the scenes. And on top of that, there's no actual gallery. So if we want to see the actual scenes again, you have to complete the arbitrary checklist of random shit just to see the scene.
I spent a full real world week on my first playthrough of the game. It was fucking miserable. The moment I knew the dev didn't give a fuck about my time was when he had the corn maze segment to get to the scene with Douie. Fuck that shit.

AFAIR, this event is started automatically when you enter the pool map (on monday afternoon, or at least at the beginning of the afternoon ?). So you don't need to talk to anybody to get the first "rival" small scene in fact.

Are you sure you've fulfilled the other conditions: i.e. your current stage with Nina is stage 5 (progress 7) ? And your affection with her is 50 or above ?

Both yes... HOWEVER! I skipped time being inside the pool area in order to make it afternoon, instead of entering the place in the afternoon. Maybe that's it.

anyone else's save data not working in the new update? am i supposed to transfer the file over myself somewhere? i have both 2.8.1 and 2.9 and only 2.6.1 lets me use my save data.

copy the file(s) from the game folder>www>saves from your 2.8 folder into the 2.9
