This was pretty bad. Almost nonsensical.
The main character is devoid of any personality. Just goes along with everything. It doesn't make sense that he doesn't question WTF is happening. It's explained as cowardice, but there's no way an actual coward just steps into the unknown without trying to assuage his fears by acquiring information.
Nothing gets explained to us. When the game starts, there's a special yearly event going on but it doesn't get named or explained at all.
The writing is just not good enough.
Thank you for your feedback.
I understand what you mean, the first version of the first episode of the game had the main character almost over explain everything, after we tried that we felt that it could make the pacing slow and make the player get bored fast of reading so much text.
So we decided to try to make the text little faster so the pacing feel faster but we also sacreficed so much like the main character background, he used to explain alot about himself in his inner thoughts and also explain how he question everything around him but slowly give up and try to just survive as long as he can.
Also he can't question the people around him because they will suspect of who really he is and he need to keep the act.
For his personality I think we tried to showcase his in many events especially the intro, some part of it is hidden as we see almost everything from his prespective and his inner thoughts but that because he not fully honest with himself and we try to let the player discover these parts of him.
Many evens, inner thoughts and even the dream scenes try to highlight the main character personality and his inner conflicts.
In the intro we didn't name the yearly event in both current and old version to be honest, we didn't thought so much about it as it was memeory event that lead to the main character asking out the girl he like and eventually marrying her.
But yes, it's a missed opportunity as small details like this could make the world lore feel rich.
