Daz models of Celebrities

I noticed (particularly recently) that there are a few assets for Daz that are very obviously models of celebrities. Like Kate for G8F is obviously Kate Beckinsale, and is Cara Delevingne.

Is there, or is it worth creating, a compilation of celebrities with Daz assets? I only ask because I've seen some assets that claim to be of celebrities, but I wouldn't have the slightest idea of who they're meant to be of. And because it's a copyright issue (last I heard), vendors might get into trouble making a model of someone without their permission, so they can't sat who it's meant to be of.

Daz3d forum has a long and continuously running thread doing exactly what you are looking for. Search "Daz3D forum celebrities look-a-likes". Through the thread I became a fan of Sangriart on Renderosity and have bought most of her characters.

I was more referring to something like this:

- Celebrity Series 30

With links to a say their Wiki article (for those that don't know who they are), and links to their download. But I have enough information to start compiling that myself, so I'll get started. So far I'm just doing G3F and G8F, but I may get around to the others at some point.

* On the Daz forum, Celebrity Series 18 is listed as "Kate Upson". No idea who that is, and an Internet search assumes I mean Kate Upton, so I put that instead.

If people can suggest Hairs to go with each celebrity, I can add them too. I think one of the things that is making them unrecognisable is just that they've sometimes got completely different hairstyles than what I'm used to. Emilia Clarke is probably the best example.

I haven't checked at the links, particularly the download links, so if any are broken, let me know and I'll try and find a better one.

EDIT:
Just browsing some of the lists, and one vendor (TritiumCG) appears to have a fair few models of porn stars. And since this forum has a fair chunck of porn gaming, I thought it might serve to have a list of porn stars as well. The links for these actresses are obviously NSFW.

Somebody on that thread has a searchable index online, don't know how often he updates it.

A list of "best" ones is prob worth it since most, including celeb series, look a little rough:

Kim Kardashian:
Angelina Jolie:
Yovanna Ventura:

If you are willing and eager to put in the work, it certainly can't hurt!

I particularly like the idea of pairing up hair styles with the celebs, as the hair is the thing that really 'sells' the better lookalikes. Unfortunately, FINDING the 'closest to identical' hair styles can be a real pain sometimes...

Clothing outfits might be fun too. Sometimes outfits are made specifically in homage to a particular character in tv, film, etc.. There won't be a lot of these, but calling out the blatantly obvious ones might save other people some time.

There are a number of lookalikes on Deviantart as well. Not sure how many of those have been indexed in the various Daz threads. Threads like this work best if the OP has the list and the OP is updated regularly with new info. If stuff gets buried on say page 53 it becomes less useful...

Of course, in the interest of keeping the 'pic count' down on the OP, you could link to later posts in the thread that show off the celeb lookalike with pics, from the OP.

One other suggestion might be, when you start the thread, to post a small handful of 'reserved for later use' posts immediately after the OP, in case you end up needing a bit of 'overflow' below the OP, say if you want to break the info up into separate lists and the OP is getting very long...

This could be a lot of work, so you should ask yourself the question, how much work are you willing to put into this, and how long are you willing to maintain/update the OP/thread as new info comes in?

As others have noted, between the Daz3D forum celeb lookalikes thread, and probably some other threads on the subject, on Renderosity, etc.,and some of the celeb lookalike models other sites (Artstation, etc.). So a good question might be to ask yourself, 'How would I present this info differently from how it is shown in these other threads/webpages/lists?'. I.E. what is it that annoys you about those other lists that you'd like to handle differently?

A lot of these supposed lookalikes are 'best efforts' and not that close, and a number of them don't focus on the body shape very much, so calling out the ones that really capture the face and body in some fashion might be useful. I have a number of supposed lookalikes (mostly freebies) in my library, but when I've tried using them, I'm just not seeing it, but a few of them are immediately recognizable at least... Again, the right hairstyle can make or break some of these...

I tried doing a Matt Smith + Jenna Coleman sexy pic once using and some other model, but wasn't convinced by the result so I moved on.

A couple of other notable resources:
PoserDazFreebies has a list of free resources on this subject. YMMV.

And Forender has a number of lookalikes, and also a section where people are requesting/donating/campaigning for others:

Food for thought...
;)

Firstly what annoys me and what I'd do differently is since we're not too worried about breaking copyright here, I can post links to where people can obtain free copies of the assets.

In terms of the "best" models, I'll probably put them first.

And in terms of how much time I have to update the list, I play games like AWAM and updates take months, so I mainly started this for a source of inspiration for renders while I wait

I think very useful would be discussions and sharing of modifications to existing models. For example, Daz3d thread can only share original works but many have modified existing products, like Mousso's characters, to vastly improve their likeness but cannot or would not share them. Perhaps that's less of an issue here?

The only problem I can see with that is if there are a half dozen different models for a celeb people have created. But this thread will have to get a lot more popular before that becomes an issue, so I don't think we have to worry about that quite yet. But if there are threads on this forum that share the DUF files of modifications, I'm happy to add them

One issue I have encountered so far though is that there are quite a few links that are based on V4 and M4, which are now obsolete. Even the G3 models are starting to head that way. So far I'm just limiting the list to what is useable, namely G3 and G8

Any conversation about Celebrity look-a-likes should include TritiumCG on DeviantArt. He creates celebrity morphs by commission but all are released for free when complete.

I've tried all TririumCG's morphs and the likeness really just not there without the right textures. He said the problem is that only Daz3D PA has access to HD morphs. Perhaps his patrons do their own textures. I saw some really good look-al-like renders of people tinkering FaceGe/etc textures on Daz models on reddit so it takes only one set of skills to make good celeb likeness if someone already did the heavy lifting in sculpt but I've never seen those characters shared or released.

Some of them you're going to have to do some extra work to make the body resemble the celebrity in question, the "character" only has a skin texture and face sculpt that resembles the celebrity.
E.g., the "Saffron" character ostensibly looks like Christina Hendricks in the previews, but in reality you need to do major body morphs and find the hair and clothing assets elsewhere.

As mentioned several times now in this thread, the Celeb Lookalikes Pt. III thread on the Daz3d.com forum is a pretty decent resource at this point, and is being updated occasionally:

I'm mentioning this as it appears that a number of the Krashwerks characters appear to be nods to various celebrities. Not all, at least not all have been positively IDed, but most of the models are definitely 'inspired'.

As for the Celebrity Series, my main issue with those is that the textures can look 'weird'. Take this fanart piece I did recently:

At the left is Celebrity Series 07, a nod to Eva Mendez. At the right is Krashwerks Diamond (mentioned in the thread but not on the list yet), which looks a lot like Sofia Vergara.

My issue with CS07, and a number of the other CS series, is that the skin textures are 'weird'. This is no doubt an artifact of Facegen or whichever other software Adam uses to recreate the characters. I did a few tweaks to CS07's skin, but still needed to do a bit of post work to deal with 'abrupt' shadow issues.

In any case, I do like CS07, it's one of Adam's better works, but just be aware that the skin textures can be a bit hit or miss with the CS series.

Adam's attempt at Jessica Alba (CS14), yeah the textures, IMHO ugh!

I tried messing with a couple of Jennifer Love Hewett lookalikes (notably Heartbreaker for G8F) but the likeness wasn't quite there for me. Of course, I'm more into 'younger' Jennifer, back when she was in her teens-early 20s.

Another relevant lookalike are the nods to Scarlett Johannson:

Scarjos_OhWee.jpg

The middle one is my V4 era go to, Mihrelle's Elena, which I pulled forward to Genesis 1. Psionne is at the right. Ignore the one at the left, I think that was an attempt to pull Elena forward or something like that, it isn't loading properly for me so I can't double check her.

Part of me likes MRL Elena's textures, dated as they are, but yeah Psionne is probably going to be your best bet. As for CS05, she's 'around' but I haven't messed with her. Here's a promo pic:

G3G8CS5Ad1.jpg

Anyways, yeah... of course, there's already a game that is a 'nod' to Scarjo, Agent Of Heels, but since Natasha is the hot Marvel property of the moment...

I mostly just wanted to bring up the CS skin texture hit or miss thing, so that people are aware. Celeb lookalike models in Daz Studio are very much a hit or miss affair, sometimes the creator nails the likeness, other times... but y'all knew that already! We should be happy that anyone even tries to dial celebs in, of course, just temper your expectations accordingly.

Somebody picked a Megan Fox lookalike as the 'stepmom' in their game, I hope that the developer sees that through. Too many 'abandoned' tags around here so I'm trying not to get my hopes up.
