You can install Daz manually without DIM, if need be.Does anyone have an older version of DIM? The new one does not even see Daz 4.15 version in the download folder.
I am not sure how to do that properly. I got Daz out of the package and just started it. Like a portable app. It worked but I am not sure if it's actually properly installed or whether it could create problems if I use it that way.You can install Daz manually without DIM, if need be.
It didn't ask for an install directory (e.g. C:\Programs Files\Daz 3D\...)? Are your assets showing up?I am not sure how to do that properly. I got Daz out of the package and just started it. Yeah. Everything was working. Sort of. I've been having serious issues with my library since 4.2. So I tried using 4.15 because it was fine when I used that version. But it was still having the same issues as 4.2 did. Couldn't see my scenes and had issues with G8 essentials when loading G8F models. I am currently reinstalling my whole OS because even uninstalling DAz and removing all the registries and so on it wouldn't fix the issue. I am about ready to reinstall Daz and I want to go right for the 4.15 version. I haven't tried it since reinstalling the OS but before that, it was not asking to install it. Just opened up and ran as if it was already installed. It didn't ask for an install directory (e.g. C:\Programs Files\Daz 3D\...)? Are your assets showing up?
I use this ver of DIM with 4.15 and have no problem with it. There is an occasional error when exiting, but works fine as intended. You will have to change the .ZIP to .EXE to install it......Yeah. You also can't totally remove DAZ without going through this process. I had to follow this to get it reinstalled back to useable I almost did an OS reinstall also.....Yeah. Everything was working. DIM was not seeing any of the content that I had in my library folder. It shows in Daz but not in DIM. I finally figured it out though. The folder with the manifest files is gone. So I reinstalled all of the Daz store content through DIM as it is the only way to reacquire manifest files. The only problem I have now is that Daz is still not seeing any of the scenes I created. It's not really a problem as I can load them through the "Open" menu, then save them again and then Daz sees them in the "Saved files". It just bugs me because I can't figure out why it's not seeing them in the first place.Greetings,
I am trying to understand what you mean by DIM is not seeing your library, I don't get it. Also, when you start Daz, do you see your assets? Can you use them, save your scenes, etc, even when you install as a portable version?
I'm not sure you have discovered that there are 2 Library locations yet... There is "My Library", and then there is "My DAZ 3D Library"
The "My Library" is where your created scenes ate located. The My DAZ3D Library scenes folder is DAZ scenes info that can be used but complicated to set up...
I hardly use Smart Content.. Most of my assets don't show up there, and after a while I just know where to look in Content Library..I have found that. I am just used to using the Smart Content tab because it's easier to access all of my saved files (scenes, subsets, poses, etc) since it's all in one place.
For me, it's the other way around. Most of my assets are from Daz store and I got used to using that tab. When I started using Daz that tab was easier to navigate and since asset creators don't have a standard way for installation of assets the content library is a mess. What I mean is that they just name their folders whatever they like. For example, there are 5 folders in my library for the Readme files. with slightly different names (Documentation, documents, readme, readmes, readme's) or the texture creators putting their assets in their own folders instead of adding those assets to the folder where the asset for which they made a texture is. I just stopped downloading texture packs altogether because they are just a pain to search for. So I rarely use the Content library.I hardly use Smart Content.. Yeah sadly, but once you learn how the DAZ Tree is made you can manually fix and move the asset any where you want in that tab. I do it all the time, and also add a corresponding icon like some already have, or change theirs to something more fitting...For me, it's the other way around. I just started to learn that. Created a folder for all the porn-related stuff and moving everything there. Pretty handy, I must say because now I don't have to scroll through the whole library just to find some pose.Yeah sadly, but once you learn how the DAZ Tree is made you can manually fix and move the asset anywhere you want in that tab.
