Like everyone else I went trough a lot of issues with the latest version 4.22, this post was a life saver, I first tried rgoing back to 4.16 and everything worked fine, except the strand hair, so took the risk and updated to 4.21 and everything works fine now, or at least that seems to be, will continue testing tomorrow.

Edit:
So I just found this in the release notes for DAZ 4.22

Windows < 10 (e.g., 8.1., 8, 7, etc)
  • Drivers required for the version of the NVIDIA Iray render engine included in this version of the application may not be available

So that might be the main cause of all our troubles with 4.22, if you have troubles with 4.22 on WIN 10 then upgrading to WIN 11 might resolve them, I'm not gonna upgrade unless someone confirms it works as it should on win 11, if you already have Win11 and still have issues please reply.

I m not pro win11, it takes alot of customisation away mate. but I m running 4.22 on win10 no prob.
I'm also running many other versions, especialy 4.21 because I hate the new New Scene step from 4.22.

Thank you for your input, but realy, win11 is taking alot of client control imo, just my opinion thou.

Cheers!

Ps: yes they promote the upgrade, but I did not feel the need for it to run the 4.22 version. It works fine on win10, except for that annoying new scene menu. Why I use 4.21. Dont just upgrade if you are a bit of a geek like me.

I have more if needed, let me know, and make backups, it helps :)

PS: This is f95 only as always, exclusive, you know me.

It's honestly should be stickied somewhere.

Really. At this point, F95 is doing a better job of archiving Daz's own software than they themselves are. Just wish F95 themselves would host the files and make them downloadable in the event that Mega ever goes down or takes the file down.

Daz's lack of legacy support is really frustrating when you consider how crippling some of their updates are for existing scenes. I nearly lost my mind when they changed ghost light luminance scaling with opacity (4.21?). I think this is due to Daz being an art company first, and for them the tech is a necessary evil, which sucks for those of us who've purchased hundreds of assets from the Daz store.

Appreciate the effort on this repository!

First of all, I mean no offense to the uploader who kindly decided to provide us with older Daz3D versions and he has my appreciation for his generous contribution, but anyway, I'd share my findings with you.

I've always been so afraid of malware when it comes to dealing with pirated software, even from trusted sources, so I always check them thoroughly, even if the process is boring and time-consuming.

I downloaded daz3d version 4.16 from the mega link kindly provided by the uploader and then started the checking process for any type of malicious behavior.

Now I have two computers, with both of them equipped with SANDBOXIE and real-time antivirus software. one PC with Bitdefender internet security and the other with Kaspersky Premium. Before using the software in real time, I started checking it deeply inside the sandbox by using virus total. I simply unpacked the rar archive and started checking every single file. I repeat every single file in the daz3d folder (bin, displays, scripts, etc.). It was a tedious and time-consuming task, but still I went along with it. After several hours of checking for malware or possible malicious behavior, all the files came up clean. Although two files from the display folder were highlighted as malware by Cynet and MaxSecure, then again, both Cynet and MaxSecure are famed for giving everything false positives. Also, this behavior was seen when I uploaded the same two files from the latest version of Daz3D, which I downloaded directly from Daz Studio, so I came to the conclusion that it was indeed false positive and nothing to worry about. then, I launched the dazstudio by dazstudio exe. Both Bitdefender PC and Kaspersky PC detect nothing. Everything was safe and sound. After that, I closed the sandbox and ran the program in real time. Once again Bitdefender or Kaspersky from different computers detected nothing, and everything was perfectly fine. So go ahead and use these Daz3D older versions without any concern. I'm 99% sure that they are safe as they come.

Sofisticated malware that can evade top-notch antivirus brands or even the virustotal itself exists, but it is unlikely that someone uses one at random people on pirated content forums.

Once again, I'm terribly sorry if the uploader feels any offense at all. I'm just sharing what I discover so people can use your uploads with free of mind. After all, it is a well-known fact that pirated software is much more likely to be malicious than games.
