Hi guys,

This is the second take on my last render. I took into account all what you said ( , , , , ) and also things that I come by myself :).

So here is the "change log":

- I added a ghost light just behind her
- I corrected the bending of the leg
- I lowered her on the bed
- I added dispalcement maps (random noises map) to give a wholly effect (and therefore less plastic/concrete effect) on the bed cover sheet and to add thickness to her shirt --> richer shadows
- I changed slightly the camera height and angle
- I added a DOF effect to detach her from the background

So, if you can take time and make comments on this one.

Thank you in advance....

I tried to add some 'catchlights' in post to mcmania's render (not my strong suit, for sure), but after uploading the new image to Imgur, they were weakened a lot by Imgur's compression, but ,imo, I think the girl with catchlights in her eyes looks more alive:

Look at that. Somebody got himself/herself a very nice render.
About the comment. I totally agree with epw14 about the catchlights in her eyes. There are different ways to achieve those. I don't know if you are using a pen+tablet or a mouse as your main tool for postwork. If you use a mouse, the easiest way would be, to copy real catchlights from a photography and blend them into the eyes, where they are needed. If you can draw them by hand, I would use a method that looks similar to, what I think epw14 has done. Whiten a single pixel in each eye and then blur it out with a blur brush. After that I would use the dodge tool and I would draw a fine line on the bottom rim of the eyeball as well as some light usage of the dodge tool on the whole white parts of each eye. But be careful with the latter part.
There are several other, more advanced, techniques for doing catchlights, but those are the two, I've learned as a beginner in postwork.

I don't use catchlights in postwork at all, I just render them in scene. A couple artists have really nice eye shaders (Raiya for genesis 3, Tempesta3d for Genesis 8) that come with their own catchlights and render quite nicely. There is also , which has 20 eye reflections. It just seems like a lot of work to make a catchlight every time, but I'm also making a game so I needed a quicker method.

It depends.
If you need a lot of graphics done, for games or high frequency web comics i.e. Then I agree with you, that those methods are too time consuming to be practical. But for stuff like single pieces and promo art, the results achieved through postwork are superior. Heck there are techniques out there for photorealistic goosebumps. It really depends on what you try to achieve.

I just moved the camera and turned her head, the rest is basic-but the picture looks quite different
I only changed the focal point and stops. Other then that i kept it prety standard. If you want i can post the .duf file if you want to check what i did.
