i use 3delight only mats, can anyone suggest what i can use for lighting? i am a total newbie tho.

Attached below is my first ever render, 3delight only and no lights and it looks awful.

In general it's better to use iray, it looks better in many ways, but if your machine can't handle it, try the AoA or the Uber shader for 3dlight on your skin textures.

Turn of the convergence percentage and use the sample count for quality-targeted rendering.

No, don't just set it to 0 but completly disable "Rendering Quality Enable". Then use "Max Samples" to target your desired quality. For simple, well-lit scenes 3000 to 5000 is enough, for more complex or darker scenes you will need more samples.

Also set the "Max Time (secs)" to a time you stop the render at latest.
Whatever will come first - reached samples or reached time - will stop the render.
