Camera tips... 1) in Camera Display, Persistance ON,
2) Field of View Red,
3) DOF Plane Visibillty Blue,
4) DOF Opacity Pale Green (about 25%)
In Camera.... 1a) Turn On DOF
2a) Turn Headlamp OFF
Then play with focus length, check it in Perspective View, your focal point should be between the two blue panes...

Render bigger you want to add as much pixels to an image so you can increase detail
